In other news, Hawaii 5-O continues their trouncing of NCIS: Los Angeles in the most-married-cop-partners competition. NCIS had an early lead, but then H5O took the field, and, well, TOOK THE FIELD OMG. Sam and Gee live in each other's pockets, but I'm pretty sure Steve and Danny live in each other's PANTS. I was pretty much in it for Grace Park at the beginning, but there's no reason I can't lust, hearteye AND slash all at once. (which is pretty much Danny and Steve's philosophy as far as I can tell. Not that they limit their hearting to their eyes.)

In other other news, LJ still won't let me reply to comments. Even when it's up and running in all other ways. I can do one or two, and then, kaput. I'm working on it though! (as I know they are)

First a message for any of you Northern Californian kitten fans, jencat004, who handraised my gorgeous and most supremely lovey Inigo, has more kittens. They are ADORABLE and you should most seriously consider getting one. Head over to her journal and have a look at the adorableness even if you can't take one.

I was reading an article today in the New Yorker about the "lesbian" separatist movement in the 70s. Ariel Levy says (emphasis mine):

The feminist Ti-Grace Atkinson went so far as to claim that her brand of celibate "political lesbianism" was morally superior to the sexually active version practiced in her midst. Atkinson was not alone in this martyred line of reasoning; a 1975 essay by the separatist Barbara Lipschutz entitled "Nobody Needs to get Fucked" urges women to "free the libido from the tyranny of orgasm-seeking. Sometimes hugging is nicer." This argument was never particularly compelling to the lesbians in the movement who were actually gay.

I spent about a minute and a half kissing his neck earlier, and he didn't so much as twitch. Though he did crack his eyes open enough to glare at me when I cackled earlier. I just can't resist his cuteness. I will stop spamming you with him some day soon, I'm sure.

We had a lovely day yesterday. I ended up making dinner after Mom burned her hand, and that was fine, actually, because I'm the sort who finds helping much more irritating than just doing it myself. and Mom was mostly okay so long as she kept a bag of frozen peas on her hand for the rest of the evening. This morning she's much improved. After dinner we played a few rounds of Apples to Apples, and once our younger guests had gone home to bed, moved on to Scrabble Scramble*, which we played until 11pm when we were all exhausted. We also all got lottery scratch cards, and 6 of the 9 of us won something, which way beats the odds *g* (I won the most, at $10, but that's better than a kick in the teeth)

Inigo was a bit miffed that there were so many people, but he got over it. eta and mmm mmm, he's been out playing in the Rosemary bush and now smells deliciously of Rosemary! *resists licking him*

This morning I went a little wild and unflocked Punch Drunk, a J2 fic I wrote back in October, and even cross-posted it.

One of the things we had for dinner (and by we, I mean they, because blik), was Brussels sprouts with blue cheese and chestnuts. The sprouts on the top of the stalk were too large and we had plenty with the ones at the base. Mom and I were quite enamoured of the stalk with its top of sprouts. And so we decided to make a feature of it, much to our amusement and the bewilderment of our guests. To wit:

*you take the letters from a Scrabble game (or two if playing with more than four players) and make your own 'boards' right in front of you, starting with 5 letters and taking another each time someone says "go" which one does when one has used all one's letters. You can move things around any time, re-doing your crosswords, and then you add up your points once all the letters have been drawn and one person has used all theirs.

When playing fetch with Inigo:

DO NOT throw mouse so that any unprotected skin gets between the cat and the mouse's trajectory. Pain will ensue.

Take care not to throw mouse on, or too near, the filing cabinet, on which resides the printer and several stacks of papers. Mess will ensue.

You know you spend too much time at your computer when your kitten comes in from outside and stands YOWLING in front of where you apparently should be sitting, looking lost and forlorn. When I came out to see what the problem was, he ran over and leapt on my leg. And then prowled all around me while I did dishes and only settled down when I came back to the computer.

He also has taken to having some sort of OMG I LOVE YOU TOOO MUCH fit when sleeping on my chest, and he'll wake up and dive at my face making an adorable trilling meep sound. Even though sudden kitten head-butts are a bit shocking, it is so adorable it kills me.

I, however, am not in Chicago. And so you will have to settle for a kitten picspam instead of pictures of Jensen in a sexass sweater and Jared cooling his nipples with ice packs.

In writing news, I wrote another thousand words of my current fic, bringing it up to just under 16,000 words total. I'm quite pleased.
