Christmas morning amusements.

The first quote of the day:

Dad: *sits at dining room table reading paper and drinking coffee* "So people are accusing Obama of being a geek."
Mom: *makes noises with water in the kitchen sink* "In HEAT??"
Me: *considers flurry of fangirl reactions to Obama in bathing suit picture* ... *guffaws*

The second quote of the day:

MCI (phone credit card) computer lady: "To make a call, press 1. ... For Golden Retriever, press 4."
Me and Mom: o___0


And the day has not been entirely without presents. Inigo got a new scratching block, and Grey cat got a new catnip sock.








I also got an ornament that is a heart with a picture of Inigo on one side and "My First Christmas" on the other side. It's very cute. *smishes his little cheeks*

Christmas is for cats, I always say! How delighted he is with that.... ribbon? LOL. I can't believe he didn't jump INTO the Christmas tree!

that's Gray's catnip sock :D Mom tried to give it to Grey and Inigo abandoned his block and was ON it like a shot. Yanked it out of her hand and rolled around in a delighted frenzy. The tree is up on a table, and we took all the ornaments off it the day after we got here, since he'd already made a start. He licked a fur-covered doll from Alaska until all its hair was clumped *g*

mom finally called back and hit 4, and it turns out MCI's 'yellow pages' is called Golden Retriever. WHICH IS JUST ODD.

There were no boxes and paper, sadly, because I think Inigo would have LOVED them. But he was pretty happy with what he got :D

J and I were fangirling about the Obama pix at dinner. S had somehow not seen them, so I sent the shirtless pic and the Superman pose for good measure. I can't have my friends ignorant of such important matters, can I?!

That is SO AMAZINGLY CUTE XD

What's the scratching block? Is it just a piece of wood? Polly can't be doing with scratching posts/whatevers unless they are shaped like a life-sized sofa :/

The block is actually just cardboard. It's lots and lots of layers glued together. So the trouble is is shreds everywhere, but they are inexpensive and recyclable.

I wish the catnip in Oz was as strong as the US stuff! My cats over the years have never had the same reactions I've seen in the cats of my US friends.

Goose never cared one single whit about catnip. Not like our friends' cats. They would spray a tennis ball with catnip spray, and roll it round on the floor and then their cats would chase along the tracks like bloodhounds for several days. It was hilarious.

his ears are awesome in that picture :D
