idk. you probably had to be there. but I am going to end up curled in a ball of helpless mirth at like 2 am if I don't share this, so there you go.

I think you should go see Howl if you have any affection for one of the following:
Allen Ginsberg
Art
Poetry
Literature
Jon Hamm
David Strathairn
James Franco

If you have any affection for two or more of the above, I think you must see Howl.

There are also lots of other amazing things about the movie, but any one of those alone was worth the price of admission.

I always have a great time with [livejournal.com profile] miss_begonia, for she is awesome, but she also picks particularly good movies to go see. I like this in a person :D

I had SUCH an amazing start to my weekend. First I went and did my final teacher eval, then met with my professor for the final time, and she had lovely things to say about me and my contributions to the classes I took with her, and such constructive things (and positive things) to say about my thesis. It was a really bitter-sweet parting, but wonderful, too.

Right from there I went across town to pick up [livejournal.com profile] emilytheodd who I have known via flist for a few years now, but whom I'd sadly never met. She is even more sparkly awesome in person :D We drove to Berkeley to meet up with [livejournal.com profile] miss_begonia and [livejournal.com profile] ericaplease for dinner and some musical theater. Dinner was delicious: salad, pizza and chicken satay, and great fun. We saw Girlfriend at the Berkeley Rep. It was DELIGHTFUL. It's like everything I love about super-well-written, schmoopy with just-the-right-amount-of-angst fanfic, only on stage and featuring music played by a band of REALLY REALLY HOT dykes. YES. PLEASE. We were squealing into our flists, clapping, giggling and laughing (which annoyed a man sitting near us who seemed to be seriously sense-of-humor impaired, but whatever) and there was at least one point that was soooo gorgeously sweet that I literally could not breathe.

We then repaired to [livejournal.com profile] miss_begonia's for cake, wine, gifts, and High School Musical. I am no longer a HSM virgin! (I'm still not sure if this is a good thing or not.) We watched a few select songs from 1, and then all the way through 3 (which i kind of dozed during, but I don't think I missed much). We then stayed up until 5:30 in the morning talking about slash, and bandom, and music, and politics, and voting, and law school, and grad school, and writing, and family and other VERY IMPORTANT THINGS. Then we all got up at 9:30. (I mentioned the exhausted, right?) During that time I had a dream that I was working for Zach Efron in Connecticut (on some campaign, I think) and he and I had to travel to VT to fetch Lea Michelle so that she could go to Boston and marry Kristin Chenowith. IDK either!)

This morning I had a lovely chat with Miss B about Adam and AI and writing and all sorts of lovely things, and then came home to collapse. I'm more than 24 hours behind on LJ, and I've tried to catch up, but I can hardly see. Sorry!

I essentially have 4.5 more days to get ready for my road trip. This makes me want to vomit a bit, I have to say. Hopefully I'll get there?

It is one of the most visually stunning movies I have ever seen. Ever. The rest of my thoughts are a little spoilery so I'll cut them )

I'm very glad I went, and [livejournal.com profile] missyjack and I had a great day. Because she is made of awesome, I now have Richard Castle's book. Heat Wave. I AM SO EXCITED ABOUT THIS.

Now I am trying to catch up on some of the TV I missed last week.

I was sorry I was spoiled (my own stupid fault), but I still liked it a lot more than I thought I would, given I don't actually like horror movies. Jensen and Jamie and Kerr are all very beautiful. The 3D thing was interesting. I felt like I could actually feel my visual cortex working to process the information it was getting, and it was about 20 minutes after the movie was over that I adjusted to the real world again.

Had a GREAT time seeing fangirls. We had lunch before and dinner afterwards, and between yesterday and today, I think I've spent my whole month's (and more) socializing cash, but it was totally worth it. I had my Wincon bag with me, and I kept thinking, is it October yet??? There I was with 7 fangirls, and it just made me want MORE.

I'm hoping we're all going to do it again next month when F13 comes out. Bloody boys and their horror movie choices. ;) We did get a trailer for it, and I have a feeling I'm going to hate it, but I am still going.

And now, I have two discs of Numbers that arrived today, and the first disc of Big Bang Theory, so I might settle down with my kitten and my remotes :D :D

eta wow. I can hardly see my computer screen. And I am someone who regularly spends 16 hours online a day. 3D = ow. I have tabs open but don't think I'll be reading them tonight. *goes to get the cold spoons*

I had one of those freaky-ass dreams this morning just before waking and the image will not go away. my brain hates me ) That two-headed drag queen is the image I can't get out of my skull.

I've been having a really interesting time of writing lately. And by interesting I mostly mean difficult. It's made me examine my writing process more, and learn stuff about how I work though, which is probably good. In which I talk at length about how I write )

I just got a text from Scott. Apparently we're going to see Twilight tonight. I had no plans whatsoever to do that, but I like going to the movies with them, and at least it will let me in on the buzz *g*

On that note, I should probably shower and go find some food that isn't Nilla Cakesters, because the thought makes me want to vom.

today's nano writing, apparently wanted to be meta.

[livejournal.com profile] skyblue_reverie and I went to the Join the Impact rally in San Francisco this morning. It was really hot and hard to hear because of the news copters and the crapness of the sound system, but there were some great signs, and we found a coolish patch of shade where we could mostly hear after a while, and I'm really glad we went. We did leave early and didn't march because neither of us was feeling very well.

We came back and I made some pizza and then we went and saw Quantum of Solace. I am SO SO HAPPY with the fact that James Bond is actually a SPY now, and not just an international playboy. Daniel Craig makes me happy. I do think that the movie should have been called )... AAAAAAAAND, when I whipped out my student ID when I went to pay for the tickets, she gave me both of them at student price. And then said something about not forgetting my ID because it would suck to be locked out of the dorms. I decided to be flattered that she thought I looked young enough to live in dorms. *g*

After the movie we stopped at Peet's and I tried to get a peppermint chocolate shake, but it was a peppermint mocha shake. I don't really like coffee (or really don't like coffee to be more accurate) but it was VERY chocolaty so I drank it. My eyes are vibrating.

I'm going to try to write. I'm not sure I can cope with reading the uber-depressing stuff for my classes right now. I need to jitter. Plus, I am behind schedule on my fic commitments. *checks calendar*

eeep!

eta well, I've reached my self-imposed minimum of 300 800 words, so I can count today as a win. *g* so far, I'm 14 for 15, with only election day scuppering writing plans.

that's pretty much all my brain has been saying for the past 9 hours. For like actual details and facts, go here to the superwiki update page, because I'm all about the WOW.

I spoke to Jensen Ackles. I totally wasn't even sure I was going to be able to make use of my pre-paid autograph thingies, but I could and did. During the Q&A someone asked what's the craziest thing he ever did, and he looked around and said, "This! This is totally nuts." and then went on a bit about how if anyone had told his 15 year old self that one day he'd be sitting on a stage in front of hundreds of adoring people he'd have said, "You're nuts." So, when it was my turn with the autographs, I said (roughly), "Thank you so much for coming out and dealing with all this craziness, I totally cannot even imagine doing what you did up there." And then he looked at me (he'd been looking down at my DVD cover to sign) and WOW HE'S JUST STUNNING said, "Thanks, and yeah, it's crazy." As my brain had been fried by the eye contact, I said something like, "You're right it's nuts."

Then it was on to Jared. Who said, "Thanks, babe" to [livejournal.com profile] tiffosis who was right before me, and gave her such a blinding grin that I was overwhelmed by teeth and tan and just said, "Thank you," in a rather breathless tone. He, in a rather gorgeous texas-tempered-by-hollywood drawl, said, "If y'all didn't want to see us then we wouldn't be here, so thank YOU," and he GRINNED again and I walked away. And spent the rest of the day in a stunned stupor.

Then some things happened, I can't really remember the order of anything, but I do remember this. When it was time to leave for the airport, we stopped in the restroom before going upstairs and I was washing my hands and glanced into the mirror, as you do, and smiled at the woman next to me, who looked vaguely familiar and who said hi to me, in a looking down shy sort of way, and I can still feel the cool slip of the soap on my fingers at the exact moment I realized it was Sandy. and I said hi back and smiled bigger and she and I did a little dance trying to keep out of each other's way as we grabbed paper towels and threw them away, and then three other girls in the room told her they loved her dress and she said, "Thanks!" and ran off because she was already late for her photo-ops. I was desperately disappointed that we were having to miss her to get our plane, but that kind of made up for it. And makes me extra double-plus THRILLED about the engagement. Because she is GORGEOUS AND ADORABLE! And he is gorgeous and adorable too.

I do still really wish I could have heard her Q&A. Next time I'm making SURE I stay Sunday night.

I have a billion things I want to read and comment on, but I am EXHAUSTED. I do need to shout out to [livejournal.com profile] leishpod and [livejournal.com profile] kittyheader who made sitting in row M all about the fun and who are just so friendly and precious and I LOVED meeting you both, to [livejournal.com profile] tiffosis who was a wonderful travel companion and roommate, though she probably won't say the same about me, given my late nights and typing at all hours *g* and to [livejournal.com profile] runedgirl for the tremendous welcome and squee and support in my times of madness.

And to all the girls from Saturday night, [livejournal.com profile] glendaglamazon, [livejournal.com profile] bksncleverness, [livejournal.com profile] speedyrock, [livejournal.com profile] splifford, [livejournal.com profile] rasah and Lucy, whose LJ I missed, I had OMG SO MUCH FUCKING FUN BEING NAUGHTY! My new policy is to do that much more often.

[livejournal.com profile] wendy, [livejournal.com profile] ze_pink_lady, [livejournal.com profile] emerald_angel9 and everyone else I met but am having brainfreeze about names at the moment, it was AWESOME to meet you, and I hope to do it again sometime.

I'm still gutted that my whole flist wasn't there, but it was amazing, and I'm so very VERY glad I went.

I think we're on 2:7 anyway. I'm kinda losing track...

tonight's episode at any rate )

In other news, I finally talked to my best friend since I was seven today. First time we've actually spoken since 3 August. Which wouldn't be unusual at all for my days in England, we only spoke once a year or maybe twice then, but now we live 1/2 hour apart, it's not really good enough. We've been playing phone tag, and I'm not sure either of us thought we'd ever actually speak again.
