So! I've been branching out on the TV front, and watching things that my flist has suggested.

I said already that I tried Sugar. I loved the first season a whole very lot, and am liking the second season a lot less. I still love and get all heartclenchy over all the scenes filmed in Brighton, but I'm finding Kim (and actually all the characters) pretty obnoxious this second season, and so I've totally stalled, and am only up to 2.05.

I also tried Wiseguy. It was, as advertised, INSANELY slashy. And I definitely didn't hate it. But I am also a total crime/cop show addict, and I am way too used to the pacing and tropes of modern cop shows, and find going back to the 80s kind of ... tiring, maybe? Each episode felt like it was two hours long and very little seemed to happen in that time. So after the first three I decided now was not the time.

United States of Tara I'm loving, as I said the other day. I'm crazy into the son. I think he's awesome. Plus, I have an automatic love for anyone who was on Northern Exposure. I cannot help it. John Corbett makes me glee. And omg, the daughter is so fab! And awful! in that way that only teenagers can manage. Plus, Toni Colette = ♥ for me.

Then, last night, I finally decided to try Skins. OMG WHAT? I was glued to my TV for hours, watching all nine episodes of the first season with nary a break. I feel like if I let it, this show could own my soul. I'm just not that interested in letting it. Tony (played by Nicholas Hoult of About a Boy and A Single Man) reminds me SO MUCH of my first (and really only) boyfriend. S wasn't quite that much of a dick, but he had a similar vibe going on as a teenager. And he was charming and charismatic as hell, and sexy, and super brilliant smart for schoolwork. *sigh*

Plus, Southland is back with new episodes, and still very awesome. The other day [livejournal.com profile] ethrosdemon linked to this Southland pimp post if you want a much better explanation than I could give of why it is so awesome.

Also still loving Castle, being sad that White Collar is nearly done for the season, liking but not loving Chuck's new season, missing Parker and Hardison, thinking Criminal Minds is getting better and better, wanting Friday Night Lights to be on still, wishing Heroes were just the Sylar-and-Peter-have-wall-slamming-sex show, wondering why I still watch House, absolutely adoring Sam and G and the gang on the ridiculous NCIS: LA, wanting more Abby on NCIS, shipping Lindsay/Danny on CSI: NY, wanting more Cat Willows on CSI, slowly making my way through Monk on DVD, waiting not very patiently for Supernatural to come back, and wondering why I find it so hard to get any writing done.

Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] jadesfire2808, I read a very interesting article this morning about why aid organizations need our money rather than our extra clothes/food/medicines. While I have known this was true, I never really thought about the logistics of it before, and the author, Claire Durham of the British Red Cross, explains it very clearly.

Speaking of giving money, the auctions over at [livejournal.com profile] help_haiti close tomorrow at noon EST. Here is a time zone converter if you don't have an easy way to figure out what that means for you where you are. Get your bids in :D I'm offering original femslash here and fan fiction here.

In less charitable news, Friday Night Lights continues to be absolutely amazing and knock my socks off every single damn time. I am excited to have DirecTV again so I can have it on my DVR. Also, White Collar is back tonight. Yay! And there is a certain show back on Thursday, right? Am I the only one who is both excited and nervous/scared?

I'm having the devil's time writing today, but I did get a decent amount of housework done, so that is something.

I am so in love with this show. And I really think everyone should be watching it. If you missed the first episode of S3, which aired Friday night, you can watch it here on the NBC website. And it's gonna be on NBC on Friday nights. Record it, watch it, both, whatever. This really is great television.

If football isn't your thing, don't worry. It's not mine, either. Football is just the frame. This is a show about being human. About family, and community, and friendship, and love and angst and beautiful moments, and heart, and what we do for each other. And it has the most amazing married couple I have ever seen on TV. They fight and disagree and laugh and are totally in love and lust, too. They do right and they fuck up, and they do the best they can with what they have. Really. WATCH THIS SHOW.

You can rent the first two seasons on DVD or watch them on NBC's site, but you can enjoy S3 without them, too.

9pm. NBC. Fridays. You know you want to. It will be a tragedy if this show doesn't get picked up for another season.

I love this show RIDICULOUS amounts. And I am INSANELY in love with Coach and Tammi Taylor and their perfect because it isn't perfect but they work at it because they love each other so damn much marriage.

and why does my brain really want a J2 AU Future fic where Jensen is a brilliant Texas football coach and Jared is the high school principal and they're "living together for convenience" only totally not, because of how the fine people of Dillon Texas don't really want a sissy coach, and they're raising Jensen's daughter from his short-lived marriage to his high school sweetheart who got in a car accident not long after their daughter was born and decided life was too short to be married to a guy who loved football more than her and she went and joined the peace corps or something.

also, please to be pointing me to awesome FNL icons. I need moar. ♥
