I've finally finished all three Hunger Games books, and never in my life have I been more aware of the extent to which we read things through the lens of our own experience. I haven't exactly been rolling around in posts about the books or the movies, as I wanted to avoid spoilers, but I've seen enough to know that what a lot of people are talking about are not themes that jumped out at me at all. I felt like all three books were essentially about one thing.

Your mileage may vary, of course. The whole point of this is that my life experiences have so very thoroughly impacted my interpretation of this series. But these thoughts have been plaguing me since I started listening to the first book, and I wanted to get them out.

Okay. So I wrote this last night during and after the episode, and haven't read anyone's reactions yet, because I just got to the library where there is internet. Damn, it was hard being without internet on Supernatural night! Because there were no reactions to read, this is a combination of episode commentary, reactions, and thinky thoughts.

This is just my theory, though, and you are more than entitled to your own :)

You might think those two are related, but they really aren't. Rachel Maddow is giving me the geekgasms, and Watchmen is what I did with my day.

I loved the movie, but I still think the best thing about it was the two-mile walk down to the theater through the crystal sunshine listening to music mashups. (thank you deirdre_c!!)

I saw it on the IMAX screen because I had never done that before. I am not at all convinced it was worth the extra money, but fortunately the film was worth the extra money, so it came out in the wash.
