The icon doesn't lie.
So! I've been branching out on the TV front, and watching things that my flist has suggested.
I said already that I tried Sugar. I loved the first season a whole very lot, and am liking the second season a lot less. I still love and get all heartclenchy over all the scenes filmed in Brighton, but I'm finding Kim (and actually all the characters) pretty obnoxious this second season, and so I've totally stalled, and am only up to 2.05.
I also tried Wiseguy. It was, as advertised, INSANELY slashy. And I definitely didn't hate it. But I am also a total crime/cop show addict, and I am way too used to the pacing and tropes of modern cop shows, and find going back to the 80s kind of ... tiring, maybe? Each episode felt like it was two hours long and very little seemed to happen in that time. So after the first three I decided now was not the time.
United States of Tara I'm loving, as I said the other day. I'm crazy into the son. I think he's awesome. Plus, I have an automatic love for anyone who was on Northern Exposure. I cannot help it. John Corbett makes me glee. And omg, the daughter is so fab! And awful! in that way that only teenagers can manage. Plus, Toni Colette = ♥ for me.
Then, last night, I finally decided to try Skins. OMG WHAT? I was glued to my TV for hours, watching all nine episodes of the first season with nary a break. I feel like if I let it, this show could own my soul. I'm just not that interested in letting it. Tony (played by Nicholas Hoult of About a Boy and A Single Man) reminds me SO MUCH of my first (and really only) boyfriend. S wasn't quite that much of a dick, but he had a similar vibe going on as a teenager. And he was charming and charismatic as hell, and sexy, and super brilliant smart for schoolwork. *sigh*
Plus, Southland is back with new episodes, and still very awesome. The other day
ethrosdemon linked to this Southland pimp post if you want a much better explanation than I could give of why it is so awesome.
Also still loving Castle, being sad that White Collar is nearly done for the season, liking but not loving Chuck's new season, missing Parker and Hardison, thinking Criminal Minds is getting better and better, wanting Friday Night Lights to be on still, wishing Heroes were just the Sylar-and-Peter-have-wall-slamming-sex show, wondering why I still watch House, absolutely adoring Sam and G and the gang on the ridiculous NCIS: LA, wanting more Abby on NCIS, shipping Lindsay/Danny on CSI: NY, wanting more Cat Willows on CSI, slowly making my way through Monk on DVD, waitingnot very patiently for Supernatural to come back, and wondering why I find it so hard to get any writing done.

Yeah Marshall (Keir Gilchrist) is so cute, such great characterisation. Ditto for Toni (how's her US accent?) and John, he's just the right amount of laid back :o) Can't wait for series 2 to screen here.

I think if I didn't have 43893475 other things I wanted to watch, I'd really quite like Wiseguy. But I don't like it better than my other options enough to keep it on my Netflix queue.

I love that series, I've only seen through most of S1&2 but I love all the characters, particularly Maxxie who is so endearing. His brand of pretty reminds me a bit of Jared in the charm factor when he was young. <3

And yeah. I can't see being fannish about Skins, but I love love love it as a show and a piece of pretty and the writing and the experience. Kind of like Friday Night Lights, only British and with more gay.

Oh, THIS!! (Old NE fan here!) His character in Tara is just so beautifully patient, unjudgemental, supportive and loving, and strong.

I was watching one of the commentaries and the episode writer and Diablo Cody were talking about how John's character is their ideal husband. And he's just like totally perfect :D
