I just did a quick little add up of the first 50 or so offerer-confirmed donations on [livejournal.com profile] help_haiti and it's over $2,300. And [livejournal.com profile] pinkfinity reported the first 35 or so mod-confirmed ones totaled $1500. I think this is going to be AMAZING way beyond the amazing I was imagining back on the 13th.

Also, I am SO EXCITED by the requests by both my winners. I was going to be happy to write whatever people wanted, even if it went out of my writer's glee-zone, but OMG they both want things that have me TWIRLING WITH HAPPY. win/win/win!!!!!!!! I am also super happy with the item I won. I am buzzing with excitement.

Sadly, I now need to drive 30 miles through the world-ending storms we are having, in order to be in my apartment when the woman buying my sofa turns up. But I can get some more packing (most of the rest of it?) done, and then there is just the cleaning and the moving of the rest of the boxes/furniture left to do. Nice men with physically active jobs and young, strong arms and backs are helping with that.

Thank you! I am feeling pretty excited about fandom right now. Especially when you add in the many thousands the Star Trek fans, and Misha Collin's twitter followers raised. And I am sure there are other fan endeavours I know nothing about, too. :D

I think it's wonderful what fandom has done, and I'm just absolutely giddy with having been even a small part of it. It gives me a great deal of hope.

Please be safe in your travels, hon, and I hope you sell your couch!

(Boys tomorrow!!!!!!)

me too! I feel so happy we raised this money, and also happy that this group of people who often gets stereotyped into basement-dwelling, totally anti-social, caring-only-about-WoW, dorks can show that we are diverse and caring and powerful.

I am all arrived safe--the rain even stopped for my journey--and just waiting for the woman and her truck-driving friend to arrive :D

BOYS TOMORROW!!!!!!!!!!!!

Drive safely, sweetie! *hugs*

I know! All these donations from fandom are so wonderful! I was amazed that ontd_startrek raised $15,000 for UNICEF in like two and half days last weekend, and I know there are similar efforts going on all over the place. Fans are awesome sometimes!!!

Thank you! I got here safe, thank goodness. It stopped raining for a bit so I could get here!

I have been so glee over Star Trek fandom, and Misha's minions, and everyone at help_haiti, and I am sure there are other fannish things I don't even know about. WE ARE AMAZING. I love it.

Man, I wish I'd been able to be part of it, but where I was in Lille, I only found out after I'd made my donation to Oxfam, and I really don;t have time to pledge any fic. Still, fandom is pretty awesome, eh?

Yeah, but as I was going to give it anyway, I'd have loved to get something back for it. Eh, next time.

I am not anticipating much perving. It's the middle of winter and really stormy so I'm going to bet they will be very dressed. :D

Hmmm yes, I forgot you are the opposites to us!! Its a pity your not having our weather. If you were I could guarantee you the shirts would be off!!!!

That's so awesome. People are so generous and it's great you get to write about what you love too! Good luck with the sofa. X
