Some letters for the day

Dear Dad,

Asking me to run errands for you and then taking your car away all day is not the best way to get your errands run on days Mom has her volunteering stuff. Please arrange better carpools.

Yours,
Stranded

~~

Dear Octopus,

Please be less awesome. You are too cute running like that, and I hurt myself flailing.

Sincerely,
with sprained wrists

~~

Dear Mr. President,

Your grin makes me grin. Like this:
Photobucket

Grinningly Yours,
no, really.

~~

Dear American tofu hotdog makers,

Please make your hotdogs taste better.

Yours,
the one who used to live in England where tofudogs were good.

~~

Dear Hummingbird bush outside my window,

It's winter now. And I love that you still have both flowers and hummingbirds.

Distractedly yours,
a hummingbird fan

!!! THAT OCTOPUS!!! OMG, MY DAY IS MADE. ♥___♥

[identity profile] rivers-bend.livejournal.com 2009-12-15 10:08 pm (UTC)(link)
I'M SO GLAD! The octopus is very definitely day-making. :D :D

[identity profile] longleggedgit.livejournal.com 2009-12-15 10:09 pm (UTC)(link)
This is why I won't eat the little things. They're SO SMART--they find their way out of mazes! They even make art!!

[identity profile] rivers-bend.livejournal.com 2009-12-15 10:15 pm (UTC)(link)
I am definitely a no-eating-octopus person. Nothing so squishy should be so intelligent, BUT THEY ARE.

[identity profile] longleggedgit.livejournal.com 2009-12-15 10:46 pm (UTC)(link)
YES. They are both my father's favorite animal and his favorite food, which I find slightly odd, but y'know, whatever works for him, hahaha.

[identity profile] hollycomb.livejournal.com 2009-12-15 09:19 pm (UTC)(link)
lol, 'a hummingbird fan,' that is too cute! I keep bugging my husband about wanting to move out west, fuck winter. I miss my hummers, they left in mid-October. ;___;

[identity profile] hollycomb.livejournal.com 2009-12-15 09:20 pm (UTC)(link)
oh and my husband sent me that octopus video link this morning and I am SO looking forward to being able to watch it when I get home, lol!

[identity profile] rivers-bend.livejournal.com 2009-12-15 10:11 pm (UTC)(link)
Hummers seem to stay here all winter if there is food. After living so long in England where there were NONE EVER, I love seeing them. :D

The octopus is worth waiting for! EEEEEEEEEEE!

[identity profile] azephirin.livejournal.com 2009-12-15 09:38 pm (UTC)(link)
I love how at the end it's like, AND NAO I TAKES UR CAMERA...wait, it's not moving... :)

[identity profile] rivers-bend.livejournal.com 2009-12-15 10:12 pm (UTC)(link)
hahaha I know! *glees more*

My favorite part is the way it runs on its little tiptoeslegs.

[identity profile] honeymull.livejournal.com 2009-12-15 09:39 pm (UTC)(link)
OCTOPUS. HOMG HOW SO ADORABLE? Goddamn, I love cephalopods so much. ♥______♥ Omggggggg I just made an embarrassing squeaky noise in the middle of the coffeehouse. AWWWWWW.

[identity profile] rivers-bend.livejournal.com 2009-12-15 10:13 pm (UTC)(link)
Cephalopods are MADE OF WIN. TRUFAX.

I made high-pitched squealing noises that brought my mother running. IT DOES THAT.

[identity profile] deirdre-c.livejournal.com 2009-12-15 10:06 pm (UTC)(link)
No hummingbirds here. Just 2-4 inches of snow predicted overnight. *sigh*

[identity profile] rivers-bend.livejournal.com 2009-12-15 10:14 pm (UTC)(link)
That is ... not as good. It has to be said. HUMMINGBIRDS >>>> SNOW.

Though Jared's pouty lip is possibly better than both of them.

[identity profile] bevismusson.livejournal.com 2009-12-15 10:53 pm (UTC)(link)
The octopus is indeed utterly made of awesome isn't it? It made my day watching that just after waking up.

[identity profile] rivers-bend.livejournal.com 2009-12-15 10:54 pm (UTC)(link)
So amazing. I sent it to Bryn last night to make sure he saw it. I cannot get enough of watching his tiny running legs! :D

[identity profile] beckaandzac.livejournal.com 2009-12-16 12:17 am (UTC)(link)
Yay octopus!!

[identity profile] rivers-bend.livejournal.com 2009-12-16 12:28 am (UTC)(link)
SO MUCH YAY FOR THE OCTOPUS! :D :D

[identity profile] gretazreta.livejournal.com 2009-12-16 12:56 am (UTC)(link)
I can't believe you have a hummingbird bush outside your window. One of my great childhood memories is actually taking a family trip to the US and going to San Diego zoo, and they have/had a hummingbird aviary there. I'd never seen a live hummingbird before and they were the most beautiful things. I have the memory of the sunlight like a whack on the head, and these little bursts of vital colour humming and zipping around, so tiny and so amazing. :D

Also, B.Obama is hot. I love him and what he stands for, and some months on I'm still really believing he's going to fulfil all that amazing potential that he has.

[identity profile] rivers-bend.livejournal.com 2009-12-16 01:58 am (UTC)(link)
Unfortunately the window is actually at my parents' house, but it is where mom set up a card table desk for me while I'm here. I love hummingbirds so much. It was a sad decade and a half in England without them.

I've never seen a whole aviary of them. THAT MUST BE AMAZING. They are really wonderful. In my last apartment I had one which would shelter in the bush on my balcony in the rain. incredibly tiny :D

B.Obama is hot. and really the most adorable president to have ever lived. Which... maybe we're not supposed to find presidents adorable, but WHATEVS. he is. ♥

NOOOOO YOU NOT BE STEALING MAI COCONUT!!!!!

:-D That clip was on the national news last night! The world loves an octopus and that makes me happy.

Ohhh hummingbirds! So little and delicate! (Unlike say, the big grumpy cockies who just destroyed my birdfeeder, heh.)

[identity profile] rivers-bend.livejournal.com 2009-12-16 06:51 am (UTC)(link)
I AM SO IN LOVE WITH THOSE OCTOPUS! RUNNING ON THEIR LITTLE LEGS!

Mom and I are just talking about how we cannot even begin to imagine putting out a bird feeder and having COCKATOOS COME TO IT. *boggles*

I LOVE THAT OCTOPUS! I saw that clip yesterday on the BBC site and grinned every time I remembered it. They are too bright for their own good. Anyone for tentacle porn?

*gags*

[identity profile] rivers-bend.livejournal.com 2009-12-16 07:59 pm (UTC)(link)

It is biologically impossible for octopuses to be less awesome. Just sayin. (I studied them for a couple years, so I speak TRUFAX).

Ok, random fan will go back into hiding now. Um, also, . *scuttles*

[identity profile] rivers-bend.livejournal.com 2009-12-17 05:44 am (UTC)(link)
