I'm pretty sure that Castle is pretty much my dream television show. First, it's a cop show. Which is pretty much my favorite genre (books and TV). Second, it has Nathan Fillion who is HILARIOUS. Third, it has a really, really awesome father daughter relationship. Fourth, it has Stana Katic, who is also funny in a much more subtle and thoroughly enjoyable way, and who is stunningly gorgeous to boot. Fifth, it has Ryan and Esposito who are adorable together. Sixth, the premise makes no sense at all and yet every episode holds together brilliantly from beginning to end. Seventh, Castle's mother is hilarious.

Nathan's comedy timing is GOLDEN. He delivers every single time. And also does rage and action and everything else so well. *harts him* Even though I generally don't like sitcoms, I might watch the Castle sitcom on its own :D
I love how Ryan and Esposito just roll along in the background and do their work and sometimes take Beckett's side against Castle and sometimes take Castle's side against her in the teasing war, and always seem to have each other's backs.

Nathan is amazing, I'd probably watch him anything. Being a fan from Firefly, I was jumping up and down when they announced Castle. I think this show is an amazing vehicle for him, he gets to show such a range of emotions. When they first announced the shows premise, I was skeptical, but somehow it works every week.
I think my favorite Ryan, Esposito, Castle moment was when they're all on the couch with the tea and the cats. I was rolling...
Although the betting one was pretty good two when they're all trying to hide it from Beckett
*hugs show* :)

So nice to see Castle squee on my flist this morning!!!!

That is it exactly. I feel in a lot of ways like the whole is better than the sum of its parts, and it has REALLY GREAT parts.
I think there should be more Castle squee always.

I'm pretty sure you have found just about the only way I could stomach so much as a chapter of Sarah Palin's book.
NAAAAAAAAAAAAAAATHAN.

I'm booked with this extras casting agency that keeps calling me to photo-double for the daughter on the show. But then the director keeps changing the date of that scene! I hope someday I'll be able to work this show!

It's totally true. A police department would never let a civilian question suspects or do all the things he does. And yet I never get hung up on any of that in the show, because it is just made of pure joy.

Yes! All you need is the initial suspension of disbelief over the premise, and the rest just works.
My favorite line in the series thus far was at the door of a supposed murder victim who turned out not to be dead: "Best.Case.Ever!" It was so gleeful and silly. :D

I apparently have a weakness for those too, though mostly actual cop shows (the CSI:xx family is just too graphic and gross for me).
not one for sitcoms; this is the kind of comedy I LOVE.
I don't tend to like sitcoms either, so that might be part of it for me too. My idea of a sitcom I like runs to things like Frasier and Action and Arrested Development, and only one of those was commercially successful. ;)
