I'm pretty sure that Castle is pretty much my dream television show. First, it's a cop show. Which is pretty much my favorite genre (books and TV). Second, it has Nathan Fillion who is HILARIOUS. Third, it has a really, really awesome father daughter relationship. Fourth, it has Stana Katic, who is also funny in a much more subtle and thoroughly enjoyable way, and who is stunningly gorgeous to boot. Fifth, it has Ryan and Esposito who are adorable together. Sixth, the premise makes no sense at all and yet every episode holds together brilliantly from beginning to end. Seventh, Castle's mother is hilarious.

Was beginning to think I was the on LJ in SPN that also loved this show. I haven't seen tonight's yet, but I love Nathan Fillian. He is so freaking good - his comedic delivery is just epic. And, I love Castle's family dynamics - I could watch it as a sitcom by itself!

"Fifth, it has Ryan and Esposito who are adorable together" YES!!!!

*goes to look for Castle Icon"

Am friending - :)

Hello! :D

Nathan's comedy timing is GOLDEN. He delivers every single time. And also does rage and action and everything else so well. *harts him* Even though I generally don't like sitcoms, I might watch the Castle sitcom on its own :D

I love how Ryan and Esposito just roll along in the background and do their work and sometimes take Beckett's side against Castle and sometimes take Castle's side against her in the teasing war, and always seem to have each other's backs.

Hi back - :)

Nathan is amazing, I'd probably watch him anything. Being a fan from Firefly, I was jumping up and down when they announced Castle. I think this show is an amazing vehicle for him, he gets to show such a range of emotions. When they first announced the shows premise, I was skeptical, but somehow it works every week.

I think my favorite Ryan, Esposito, Castle moment was when they're all on the couch with the tea and the cats. I was rolling...

Although the betting one was pretty good two when they're all trying to hide it from Beckett

*hugs show* :)

I totally love their equivalents in the novel. They are even slashier there, too. :D

I am yet to watch any Castle, probably because I suspect I am going to fall deeply in love with it.

I'm gonna go out on a limb and say you will. It's one of those shows where every time my brain even considers heading towards but this wouldn't actually ever happen territory, the show is so so genius that it makes no difference if it's logical. Every single week fills me with glee and love. Nathan is a genius, and the writers are utterly brilliant and shameless with exploiting the talents of their cast.

I missed most of last season and have zero time for TV here at college, but I'm definitely planning to catch up next summer for every single one of those reasons!

It's just one of those shows that fills me with joy every week. I love being filled with joy :D

Oh, college. I remember those years. We didn't even have a TV, til the place I lived my senior year. I did watch TV then, though not very much.

We don't have a TV either, which is probably a very good thing but can definitely get frustrating. I do watch Glee down at the gym, but I've learned that trying to watch SPN while on an elliptical is not exactly a good idea. :)

I was so, so sad to give this show up for time reasons. I'll definitely have to come back to it on DVD.

I think even if I cut my 20 shows down to a top 3, this one would make the cut. Definitely worth catching up with on DVD :D

Castle is like the perfect synergy of a great writing staff and amazing cast. Like you said, the premise is kinda silly, but IT WORKS so well. They have a formula, and they stick to it, and you suspend your disbelief because you love EVERY SINGLE PERSON ON IT, and because the writing is just that good - you're hopping on a ride that you don't want to get off of. I would love to spend a day on that set - they all look like they're having a good time. AND! In light of the epic gender!fail on a lot of shows, the female characters are smart and funny and complex and absolutely wonderful. I look forward to it EVERY WEEK, and I'm so happy that they cast Nathan Fillion and Stana Katic in these roles, because they are PERFECT!

So nice to see Castle squee on my flist this morning!!!!

That is it exactly. I feel in a lot of ways like the whole is better than the sum of its parts, and it has REALLY GREAT parts.

I think there should be more Castle squee always.

I would watch Nathan Fillion read the phone book. No, that's not strong enough. I would watch Nathan Fillion read Sarah Palin's book...that's how much I love him and would follow him anywhere.

*thinks about that*

I'm pretty sure you have found just about the only way I could stomach so much as a chapter of Sarah Palin's book.

NAAAAAAAAAAAAAAATHAN.

Haha your sixth reason made me laugh out loud. It's so true! And the show is so GOOD! I love Nathan Fillion.

I'm booked with this extras casting agency that keeps calling me to photo-double for the daughter on the show. But then the director keeps changing the date of that scene! I hope someday I'll be able to work this show!

OMG THAT WOULD BE AMAZING. I want to hear all about it if it happens! :D :D

It's totally true. A police department would never let a civilian question suspects or do all the things he does. And yet I never get hung up on any of that in the show, because it is just made of pure joy.

It's a great "guilty pleasure" for me. I have it on in the background while I'm trying to write, and I love Nathan Fillion, love the funniness of Castle and the way Stana Katic's character gives it all back to him, and I think Castle's mother is a riot.

Sixth, the premise makes no sense at all and yet every episode holds together brilliantly from beginning to end.
Yes! All you need is the initial suspension of disbelief over the premise, and the rest just works.

My favorite line in the series thus far was at the door of a supposed murder victim who turned out not to be dead: "Best.Case.Ever!" It was so gleeful and silly. :D

There is much gleeful and silly about the show, and yet it totally manages to appeal to my cop-show-loving side, too. I'm not one for sitcoms; this is the kind of comedy I LOVE. Nathan should be on every show ever.

I apparently have a weakness for those too, though mostly actual cop shows (the CSI:xx family is just too graphic and gross for me).

I don't tend to like sitcoms either, so that might be part of it for me too. My idea of a sitcom I like runs to things like Frasier and Action and Arrested Development, and only one of those was commercially successful. ;)
