WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!

I wanted a woman to win SO BADLY I CANNOT EVEN TELL YOU. I would have been equally happy for it to be any of the top five girls (though I loved Melissa most), but after the last two weeks, I am REALLY happy that Jeanine won. I feel like she really did put her all into it. Not that Kayla didn't. And she was also super-amazing, obviously, but I suspect a large portion of the voting population is of a certain age, female, and probably heteronormalized to the point that thin, blonde, pretty girls are who they resent, not who they pick the phone up for. I could be totally wrong. I don't know. But I was very sad, but not all that surprised to see her in fourth place. I do think she will have an amazing career though.

I LOVE THIS SHOW SO MUCH.

From the beginning I wanted Brandon to win, but Jeanine was my second choice. After Wednesday's solo, though, and getting to see her perform some of the past routines, I was SO THRILLED that she won, omg. :D:D:D I've spent any spare time uploading her clips to youtube, lmao.

OMG WHAT ARE YOU SAYING? HOW CAN YOU OUT ME LIKE THAT TO EVERYONE? Lol. Deeley's hot, and Kayla was (after Kupono) my next favorite. OMG DID YOU SEE MY PRETTY KUPONO UP THERE BREAKING HEARTS? So pretty.

I dunno, man, I loved Melissa but she just didn't grow (going by her solos) as much as the others. But GORGEOUS? JESUS. Jesus, her FACE. I could stare at her all day. She's one of those women who you just KNOW is going to be breathtaking in fifty years. Like...Susan Lucci, lol.

(My kids flipped shit when Evan took third over Kayla and I was accused of brainwashing, but I'm of the opinion that they have TASTE and were justified in their little, "EWWWWWWWW, EVAN CAN'T DANCE BETTER THAN KAYLA, THESE PEOPLE ARE DUMB,"s.)

haha, the age I was thinking of was 13-20, actually, but I do know you like your brunettes ;)

I thought Melissa did much more amazing with her couples dancing than her solos, true. I did think she did amazing with any style thrown at her, though. And just her SMILE. So very amazing. I love her. But, I didn't resent when she got voted off. I really loved all the top 5 girls so much. She is going to be stunning in fifty years. eeef.

I wanted Brandon to be in the top 4, always. (mostly just to show Mia, who was so harsh with him, needlessly, I thought) but then I wanted him even more when he danced each week. There really were just SO. MANY. great dancers this year. Other than Evan, I would have been happy had any of the top 6 won.

I totally imagine that Evan got the grandma vote. That there were lots of little old ladies whose grandchildren had taught them how to use their cell phones dialing in for him each week :D

This is an interesting point that I had not considered. I had always suspected Kayla was less popular with the voting public (which indeed skews more female) because of her less approachable personality and not because of her appearance. You're likely correct, though :-/ But Kayla won't be the first more technically skilled dancer to fall short of the prize. Blake McGrath, Travis Wall, Danny Tidwell, and William Wingfield were (in my not-so-humble opinion) the best dancers of their respective seasons, but they didn't end up being "America's favorite" dancers.

I thought Kayla showed her personality much more as the weeks went by. She isn't as funny as Jeanine, but I have heard enough hate from teenage girls directed towards that look, that it wouldn't surprise me if her looks were part of it.

I was STUNNED that Travis didn't win when I watched S2 a couple weeks ago. But then, Benji did have that middle-america appeal going for him in a way that I am sure Travis didn't.

I loved the judges getting up to do their little showcase in One. I'm sorry, I find them all SO CUTE. (esp. Debbie Allen. That woman is such a role model for me in how to age but never grow old.)

I totally agree. Though Tyce looked a little miffed that he had to wear a sparkly top hat :D

omg Debbie Allen. I LOVE THAT WOMAN INSANE AMOUNTS. She is such a staple of awesome from my childhood, when watching Fame was pretty much the highlight of my week. and she does just get better and better with age. I love that she believes you get better dancers through encouragement and praise to balance out the constructive criticisms. Instead of the way some of the other judges go about it.

I thought that Kayla was an exquisite dancer. However, she seriously lucked out when it came to pulling styles out of the hat. I can't recall her ever getting hip hop, and that's usually the kiss of death for contemporary dancers. Jeanine, on the other hand, absolutely killed ever style, from ballroom to latin to hip hop. So, I preferred her in the end. I was heartbroken when Jeanette left, so at that point, I wasn't as invested with who won (as long as it wasn't Evan). How Evan landed in the top four is beyond me.

I feel like she did do hip hop, but I think it was in the group number. It's so hard to remember it all! :) But yes. She did do some good pulling out of the hat. Jeanette was amazing. Definitely. There was something about the way she was presented to us that made me feel like maybe we weren't getting to see her as much. I can't really put my finger on it, and maybe it was her being shyer in front of the cameras or something, but I do sometimes think they manipulate who they want you to vote for, and I didn't feel like she was on their list necessarily.

Evan, on the other hand, was. And I think that's how he made it as far as he did. We were encouraged to fall for him during audition week, so that he was already loved by the time he started dancing less well than his competition.

I loved Jeanine SO MUCH and was SO HAPPY she won. Kayla...eh. Her dancing really did leave me cold each week. I thought, especially, in the duet with Jeanine, it really showed how much *more* Jeanine had in comparison.

I would've taken either Jeanine or Brandon (although I think Janette totally should've won. HMMPH.) to win, though, with Jeanine edging out after Brandon underwhelmed me with the last performance show.

I liked Kayla's partnering, but didn't think she was nearly as good in her solo work as Jeanine. I would have been happy for Brandon to win, too, but a woman winning makes me so much happier. And she really REALLY brought her game to the last few episodes.
