writing meme. ganked from [livejournal.com profile] kohl_rimmed_eye

Keyboard or Longhand? I am pretty diehard keyboard, unless I am computerless, then I will write in my journal, or on the backs of e-tickets and trip itineraries, newspaper margins, hotel stationary, scraps of paper out of my pocket or my handbag, or anything else I can find. I type much faster than I can write though and so I find writing kind of frustrating. I also find typing up written words frustrating as I can read a lot faster than I think and so my fingers get all tangled.

Beta or no beta? Proof-read, proof-read, proof-read, and then beta. Unless it's a drabble or a ficlet that flies out my fingers, usually those only get proof-read. I value beta above most things however. Some of my best ideas come from beta conversations.

Plot? I love plot. I love following cannon and writing lost scenes or behind the scenes thoughts. I love taking characters from one event to another. But, I love writing dialogue and emotion and feelings and smut too. Some of which needs less plot than others.

Title? I am crap at titles. I usually just pic a random word sort of related to the story. Or not at all related. It depends.

Smushy or smutty? Smushy, smutty, angsty, I'm all good. Depends on what sort of plot bunny is biting that day. For a while, I think because I started this lark writing MMOM entries, I found it hard to write anything below an R rating, but I've done some smut free stuff since.

Summary? mostly can't be bothered. unless I've thought of something that amuses me to say about the thing. I more often do A/Ns than summarys.

Funniest fic? I don't think my writing is very funny generally. I think probably either Heathers or Back to School make me laugh the most.

Most popular fic? My gun!kink fic, Reservoir Docs has garnered the most crack comments. So I guess it's the most popular.

Most fun to write? Barring the soon to be posted fic I've co-written with [livejournal.com profile] karaokegal, it's either my Thelma and Louise fic Every Now and Then or my Garden State X Buffy the Vampire Slayer crossover, Of Fathers and Slayers

Best and worst? Wow. Hard question. I go around a lot on what my best is, I'm pretty proud of my original fic femmeslash, Choose. Worst? There is a lot of worst that I haven't posted, but I think the worst I have posted is this piece of Roswell femmeslash

Coulda been contenders? I think my favourite stuff that has the fewest comments (I'm not quite sure what this question is all about) is my pair of NC-17 Alias kink!fics You Need to Stay Away from Sydney and The Cell

Strengths: I've been told I do hot well enough times that I'm starting to believe it, and I've always felt like I'm pretty good at emotional truth. And dialogue. I'm not too bad at dialogue.

Weaknesses: I don't think I am very good at descriptions or creating a sense of place. I think I use fanfic as a crutch, everyone knows what the characters and locations look like so I don't have to describe them.

Dirty Little Secrets? I sometimes write RPS on request though I won't post it public because I'm terrified of the fact that real people have access to the internet. I will write pairings I think I am completely unable to envision if I'm asked enough times (not het though I don't think), and often those turn out to be my favourite fics.

Oh, very interesting. Some of this stuff I knew from our discussions, but not all of it. So you do write RPS, even if you won't post it, eh? *evilgrin* Now I know what to ask for for Christmas! (Nevermind the fact that I'm not actually Christian. I still demand prezzies.)

Hmmm... not sure if I've written enough to have meaningful answers to some of these questions, but perhaps I'll gank it anyway. We shall see.

I so love that in your icon it looks like Bertie has just had Jeeves' baby!

*giggles* I have written RPS but I'm not making any promises that it will happen again... ;)

Oh, dear god, you have just made my brain go to a horrible, evil, Jeeves & Wooster mpreg place. I never even thought of my icon looking like that before, but now that you say it, I see that you are totally right and I'll never get that image out of my head. Damn you, river! Damn you to hell! *shakes fist*

I now have to go scrub my brain with bleach. Oh, and I demand that you write Fry/Laurie RPS for me as penance. :p

I am so so so so sorry! I did not mean to make the mpreg place come. I so don't believe in the whole mpreg thing that I forget it exists!

I am pretty certain F/L RPS is way beyond my capabilities...

I love the fact that you find it tough to praise yourself for your writing!

Because you are the font of self praise? ;)

I'm better than I used to be. much. There are actually lots of things that I like now.
