Hello!

this is probably a stupid time of day to be posting this, but it's when I remembered, so.

Have any of you been to a show at Hollywood Bowl? If you have, would you mind leaving me a comment about the experience? Not so much what you saw (though I am happy to read about that too), but what your experience of parking was like, or what your impression was of walking in, or finding your seats, what the view was like, any little details you can think of to give verisimilitude to a scene I'm stupidly setting in a place I've never been. (mostly because canonically the band is going to be performing there, and not at the two venues I HAVE been to in LA, so.)

Help a writer out? *winning smile*

Probably not helpful given noone in LA would do this (except an Australian!) but it is only a 15 min walk up Highland from Hollywood Blvd- and there is a bus as well ;D

If I decide to send them not with Adam's dad, I will definitely make use of that information! They're coming from Santa Monica, and most likely with a dad chaperone, so he'll be driving, but I can see him making them walk a ways :D

I went once, when I was 12, so I don't remember much. The only thing I do remember is having a good view of the stage even though we were pretty far back.

It's been a couple years, but I remember thinking how lucky the people in the front were since they have the box seats :P I remember the seats being pretty comfortable even though they were just benches really. I remember the sound being amazing (we saw John Williams conducting his greatest movie hits).

And all I remember about parking was that a friend told us about this little spot under a bridge close by that everyone thought was a tow away zone but wasn't and we parked there. Wish I remembered more detail. Sorry!

oh my god, I would LOVE to see John Williams conducting his greatest movie hits. And I'd love to see it at the Hollywood Bowl.

And that's great. Thank you! :D

It was an amazing concert. And really laid back. Some guy at the back of the ampitheater kept yelling "Superman!" and everyone was laughing about it. As they came to a lull between songs at the end he yelled "For the love of god, play Superman!" Which he didn't because of course that was the last song played for the night :P It was a great experience though!

I went to see Rent at the Hollywood Bowl last year. I remember the walk from the parking lot not being too bad at all, and neither was the traffic jam getting out of there afterwards. I do recommend springing for the seat cushions they rent and bringing along your own snacks as they allow outside food and drink. They also have picnic areas in the surrounding hills if you arrive early.

Also, I remember thinking: DAYUMN, NICOLE SCHERZINGER IS HOT!
This is the video I shot that Perez Hilton stole. LOL

LOLOL I remember Perez stealing that video. And your response! :D

My characters are going to see My Chemical Romance, so will probably not be sitting much because Gerard would yell at them to get up and dance. but it's good to know about the cushions.

and Nicole Scherzinger IS hot :D

You're in luck. D shot Barry in the Bowl.

The acoustics are some of the finest she's heard - and she's shot at all the major LA venues (except for Staples.)The artist's entrance is in the back and there's parking for the big rigs; the lot slopes down and the artist's entrance is in a bunker back there. Everything is beige -- long corridors, nondescript heavy steel doors, D says "like all of those places."

She's such a show off. When I asked her she was all, "Hmm, no, that was the Pantages. Or was it the Greek? No, no, I'm thinking of the old Ally Pally." Grrrrrrrr....

The bowl itself deceptively big -- it dwarfs everything from the seats. The VIP section is a set of private cells dead center stage where they serve food & drink (it doubles as an orchestra pit) and the nosebleeds are all benches.

(If you ever do a fic where the boys are on CBS show, I can guide you into the artist's entrance and through the bowels of the building on Fairfax. The green room is wee. And that is my sum total knowledge of Hollyweird. Oh! And we saw Mute Math -- the drummer broke a stick and sliced his forehead. They were awesome. And also wee. See? I can show off too. *razzes D*)

*smooches you up and down*

Oh! Here's what I remember from the time D took me on her "places wot I has shot" tour of LA: It's grounds are gorgeous, a grove of trees and nicely kept lawns -- right off the 101 and about 3 blocks from the Capitol Records building. You feel like you're in sorta-kinda Tanglewood.

Yeah, so not helpful.

I stand corrected. *weeps* D did shoot in the Staples -- it was the Coliseum that she never shot. And why am I taking up your LJ space for this frippery? Because when we're having a lovely cuppa you can stop her and say, "Why yes, I know." Hee! And she says Google Earth will give you a good look at the backside of the Bowl.

And that's it! I swear!!

Except OMG SHE SHOT AT THE ALLY PALLY.

I was packing the other day and found an ancient cassette tape labeled the AP and I killed myself running (okay, loping)upstairs to present her with it, and getting all shaky and fangirly because "the day they knocked down the pally/My sister stood and cried" and OMG how could she not mention that and I had to act all nonchalant when she just rolled her eyes and tossed it in the bin, but still.</>

sorry

hello, hello! Now I want to write something where Adam performs at the Bowl. What I'm writing now, his teenage self goes to see MCR there. So he can definitely be awed by the bowl itself :D

also, when will you be HERE? I want to hear all the stories ♥♥
