okay. what is going on here? and why is Dean so totally Unexcited about zombies? Dean LOVES zombies. Is this related to his needing help breakdown? or did the writers forget that Dean loves zombies? Or am I losing the plot and Dean only fanonically loves zombies?

Remember how I love this show? I REALLY LOVE THIS SHOW. Jensen is so serious, Jim is so heartbreaking, Jared is so GRRR, the sheriff is all pulled-herself-together kick-ass.

I'm extremely puzzled by this Bobby is the town drunk shit. Where did that come from?

Was this ep written by Loeb and Loffler or whoever, again, the ones who obviously don't know the characters on SPN from anything more than a crib sheet?

The sheriff was fantastic!

I am sure that Bobby played that part for some reason, hiding who he really is. But I'm dying for the story of WHY he chose that.

Oh, I didn't think of that, that he might be using it as a cover story...to give the town an explanation for his standoffishness and general oddness, maybe? That could work.

Dean leaning on the car, and zombies' heads getting blown off, were the best parts of the episode! ;D

Come to think of it, I thought he liked zombies, too (who doesn't?). Maybe he likes them in horror movies rather than when they are chasing him.

I loved a lot of the shooting in this episode. Made by zombie fangirls/boys.

I think the canon for Dean wanting to Hunt Zombies is from the one with Doc Benton, where Sam misleads Dean into thinking it's a zombie hunt in order to try to get the immortality secret.

Dean is still functioning on too little sleep to be excited about zombies. Poor sad Dean.

Actually, Bobby having a drinking problem is canon... remember when Dean rose from the dead and found Bobby completely surrounded by bottles? That may not have been the first time either... and how did he ever not get arrested for the murder of his wife? I don't see how Bobby being the town drunk would be a good cover story for anything, unless it's just that he's a paranoid recluse like every other hunter.

I can see how Bobby's done his share of drinking, for sure. But he's not a "drunk" in the sense of the guy who hangs around town drunk all the time the way "town drunk" implies; at least not in the timeline of the show. He could well have just fostered that reputation from the period of time after his wife died (assuming he went on a bender then, too) as a way of keeping people out of his business and excuse any strangeness they saw :)

Ah, yes. His zombie excitement was definitely in that episode :D

I think every town from now on should feature kick-ass feminine-but-strong sheriffs. As it is written, so shall it be, yes? Yes.

I know exactly what you mean about Jensen/Dean here. I was physically tired by the end of the episode just watching him try to drag himself through the latest horror. Not to mention that expression on Dean's face when he realizes what Bobby's had to do...again.

I thought Jensen did some great subtle stuff in this episode, letting Jim carry most of the pathos that we often are shown through Dean. And as pretty much always, they got some fantastic guest talent. The casting team on this show is really great. Clay was so fantastic at doing the dead-eyed stare at the beginning, and then made me LOL with his delivery of "I pay taxes!". Awesome.

EEEE! LOVED the sheriff, so visibly marshaling (ha!) the very last of her emotional resources, pulling on her big girl panties and blowing away the zombies. Awesome.

Oh show! You have broken me so many times this season I've lost count...and it hurts to much to go back and tick them all off. You're killing me ded! Can we please wrap up this freaking Apocalypse and have season 6 be all fluffy bunnies and the boys doing things with their shirts off and Bobby tinkering with cars? Is that too much to ask?!

They definitely have the CRUSHING ME down to a fine art. and heh! I could get behind a show that is Bobby Singer gruffly tinkering and demanding a shirtless Sam pause in lifting an engine block with his bare hands to bring him a different wrench while Dean works on his baby wearing a tight white (all grease-smudged) t-shirt, bantering with the other two. Or at least an episode!

Someone mentioned that the last episode we saw, the last one before hiatus, was switched with the one we saw last night. So no use expecting any continuity there, I suppose.

that makes a lot of sense. I'm going to guess since we had the valentines one at valentines, that they didn't realize there was going to be that extra week of hiatus in there somewhere and this was supposed to be early february. I think I shall make it so in my brain :)

I'm going to leave my cynical 'only when they're not trying to make them sexy hat' off and just agree that she was AWESOME. As was the sherrif. Who I thought was wonderful.

Also, Bobby as town drunk? Wouldn't you think he was a crazy drunk? If you didn't know what he's really all about?

Jim Beaver was amazing in this ep. He killed me. He really did.

I guess when I think of the "town drunk" I think of someone who is actually hanging around in the town being drunk. I don't get the feeling that Bobby is actually IN town much. But oh well.
