Hi! :D It's appropriate anyway. cos what I wanted to be talking about was the having of internet friends.

Tell me your thoughts on having internet friends!

(I started drinking beer a little while ago, jsyk.)

the subject of blogging every detail of your life, and going to your blog readers for advice about everything you do came up. And it was a little scary looking at it from the outside like that.

But I'm still glad I do it. I do feel like many of my friends here are actually friends, and I do value your advice :D

Yeah, it is a little weird when you look at it objectively, or from an outsider's point of view.

But, as you said, many of your friends here are your FRIENDS, and lots of them understand stuff that's going on in your life better than RL people will.

Thank god for the internet! ♥

Hope you don't mind the drive by comment. Yes, it was interesting and a bit quelling to see this outside point of view, but it seemed (like most times we see this) quite distorted. She was going to have huge major life changing surgery, so who should she seek advice from? The people around her who have never experienced it? Maybe online she could find someone who has had this surgery or knows someone who has had it and could give her info she couldn't get from doctors. They showed only the negative side of blogging.

But more importantly, House watches a porn vid that Wilson is in? Oh My God!

It was really interesting to me that it seemed some sort of mashup between a livejournal-esque thing: "They comment on my blog, I comment on theirs" and an "I'm famous on the internets" thing like maybe cakewrecks or the blog from Julie and Julia. In my experience those are two different things. But maybe outside of fandom they aren't so much? I guess it's possible that if all I produced was personal stuff I might start wanting certain numbers of comments on that, where now I mostly focus on my fiction. IDK. It did seem kind of like the writers just mashed up everything they'd ever heard about online socializing and put it out there. I would have bought it much more if it was not trying to bring in the "internet famous" aspects.

I was cringing so much with that Wilson movie! it hit my embarrassment squick hard. :D

lol
I thought it was fitting her and him fought about her blog, cause just before House started, Cory and I had an argument about me being online.
Yup.
Oh, the joys!

I enjoyed it though, I was terribly amused by Chase's preoccupation with his looks, and their effect on women.

The Chase storyline kept making me LOL. Especially 13's eye-rolling. I kind of love her. Was she magically cured of her hereditary, incurable disease?

ugh. figiting about being online is no fun :(

I thought her blogging was kinda obsessive. I mean, yes, I love having internet friends, but...she took it way too far. Particularly in talking about her relationship with her boyfriend. At that point, she's not just giving up her privacy but his as well and she doesn't have the right to make that decision for him.

But for everything else, I guess it's her choice, right? Just because I don't get it doesn't mean it's wrong. And I can't deny that sometimes it's just easier to talk to people when you don't have to see and live with them all the time.

I can't really imagine blogging quite like that on a public access blog. I thought that was a weird aspect to it. Not that her blog wasn't friends locked, but that they were making it sound like she was trying to be all lots of hits about a journal blog. But I know very little about non-fandom blogs, so.

I consider my LJ friends the equivalent of penpals! Just hip 21st century penpals :D
