Is Vampire Diaries the cheesiest TV show ever made? I have to admit that I subsist mostly on a diet of cop/lawyer shows with the occasional foray into SciFi, so I don't have a whole lot in this genre to compare it to. It's not Buffy, that's for sure.

And yet? I am enjoying it even as I am rolling my eyes so far back into my skull I'm afraid I'm risking permanent damage. The blatantly sexual tension between the brothers helps a lot. And weirdly the fact that everyone is almost painfully pretty helps me suspend my disbelief.

I want more Damon. Ian Somerhalder's scenery chewing is hilarious.

Paul Wesley needs to have an eyebrow-off with Zachary Quinto judged by Peter Gallagher.

Ian is definitely making the most of what he's being given. I love him.

And hahaha, so much. We need to arrange that.

LOL, oh VD. How I love to make fun of you.

But but but what (inevitable) pairing name will fandom give Stefan/Damon? Salvacest? Cestatore? Somehow, it just doesn't flow off the tongue like Wincest or Weasleycest ;D

Cestatore made me cackle slightly frighteningly. I think we should start a rallying cry for that one. LOLOLOL

Wincest is really pretty much a gift from Kripke to the gods of 'cest fandoms, and has ruined me for all other names, though at least Weasleycest does roll off the tongue (so to speak) *g* So long as we don't have to put up with Stamon or Defan...

If I can say 'Cestatore' in a terribly stereotypical Italian accent, it might sound palatable! Like "Ehhhhh it's - how you say - ma, it's Cestatore! Molto bene." *eats donut*

STAMON. OMG. IT'S AS LAUGHABLY AWFUL AS IAN SOMERHALDER'S PHONED-IN ACTING, LAWWLLLl

There has been a couple of reviews which mentioned this show should probably appeal to SPN fans. *fossicks about the net in case you are interested*

I like it! It hits my favorite vampy and teen cliches. I don't even know!!!! *hangs head in shame*

The sexual tension between the brothers is also quite amazing. :D

Hey, no fingerwagging here, I am totally enjoying it. But, man, it is CHEESY :D

I seriously thought they were going to start making out a couple times in last night's episode.

I can't lie. I think the show is utterly lame, and yet...I can't stop watching it. >_> I'm hoping that I think it's less lame, the further that they get into the series. It might not help that I read the books, so I know a majority of what happens in canon. But I'm reserving my opinions at least until the fourth or fifth episode. Hopefully.

Inappropriate vampire-related icon is inappropriate. Because Jacob isn't a vampire and because...well...It's not Vampire Diaries related. xD

Sometimes I need something utterly pretty and brainless, and this is perfect :D

I know nothing about the books, though I am thinking that's not a bad thing.

i can say i have the same thing going lol. it is such a twilight likeness i cringe, but yet i watch...helps supernatural is next up of course. and the bro-tension was THERE! and does the older one look like a young Brian kinney from QAF? seriously!

I can't even watch it before SPN, because it will have trailers for SPN in it, and I cannot watch them, so I must record it and watch it later :D

The bro-tension ROCKS. \o/

He's the whole reason I started on it. I love him, and I don't even have a concrete reason as to why. Just always have.

It's a very weird dynamic in my house, watching this show. My excuse is that it's something to watch while I'm waiting for SPN to come on. My 11-year-old son is a Twilight fan, which means making fun of its similarities to Twilight and the utter ridiculousness of both, is highly entertaining to his 13-year-old brother and I.

But then there's the OMG slashy brothers. I mean, that's not even subtext with those two; it's like...text...or something.

This is how bad it is: at the Fall Fandom Free-for-all today, I requested that someone write me some Damon/Stefan. *hangs head in shame* The thing is, someone has already offered to write it. :D

Have you read A Poisonous Garden (http://linaerys.livejournal.com/696782.html) by [livejournal.com profile] linaerys? She was on that after only one episode. Awesomeness. Yeah. Subtext is out the window. They are all up in it.

I can't watch it while I'm waiting for SPN because there will be trailers. I'm looking forward to Flash Forward starting so I have something to watch on another episode, otherwise I'm dependent on DVDs or having saved something from my DVR to watch. I am far too het up to do homework or reading, and I have to stay away from LJ because everyone else gets to see it first.

Thanks for the rec. The story was quite good. The show is not, but I'll probably keep watching it as long as it stays this slashy.
