It's twenty past one in the afternoon. I've been watching Sons of Anarchy since 6:30 this morning. But I'm all caught up now.
The scene whereDean Winchester Jax poured gas on a body in a hole and dropped a zippo on it and we got to see him filmed/lit from below.
Katey Sagal. I truly truly cannot say enough about her. She stuns me with her awesomeness at every single turn. and she keeps kissing women on the lips. In a way that is simultaneously creepy and compelling.
Maggie Siff. I've been loving her in Mad Men, and I love her just as much here.
Charlie Hunnam. My hatred for him in Queer as Folk is possibly what's making me love him even more in this. I don't even know. It does crack me up every time he does his "Nathan" swagger though. The way he walked down that school hallway after Stuart rimmed him and fucked him and dropped him off at school in a jeep that said QUEERS on it. Like he owned the fucking universe and wasn't scared of anything. And it's not a bad attitude for Jax to have. To be sure. But it doesn't carry across in quite the same way. Except that he also had the same swagger going on in Young Americans, which makes me think it wasn't a Nathan swagger at all, but it's pure Charlie. Whatever. I think he's brilliant. Even with the occasional half-word of Newcastle accent he throws in.
Ron fucking Perlman is a BAMF. He and Katey have great chemistry. I totally buy him as the president of this club. And I also love how he walks, sits on his bike, and interacts with the other men.
This is one of the best-cast shows I've seen in ages. I feel like everyone hits just the right notes. Except for Hale's brother, actually. He is and always will be a serial killer in my mind. I cannot buy him as a town founder.
I deleted the eps as I went and I kinda wish I hadn't now. I'd like to be able to go back and watch them again. but I also know that I have a tendency to clutter my DVR, and I'm recording a hell of a lot this year.
I was expecting good things from this show, all the hype people gave it. It way more than delivered. AWESOME.

I KNOW! There are so many parallels, I just don't know how an SPN fan can NOT enjoy this show. Kurt Sutter even drones on about it being primarily a family drama in the commentaries, just like EK! And they were digging up a grave by, what...the second episode?

See, I watched SoA before QaF and that's where I got the idea that if he had the swagger when he was 18, it must be all him and not just an affectation because Jax is supposed to be a badass. But yeah, he does let that accent slip in every now and then. I'm enough of a fangirl to find it cute. :D

You might consider buying the DVD set. There are a lot of commentaries (including one with practically the entirety of the Samcro cast members), special features about the ink, the bikes, etc. and a gag reel. Also a ton of missing scenes. Just something to think about.

I admit it; I was totally a major hype-er. But you already knew that. :D Seriously, I'm so glad the show lived up to its reputation for you. Looking forward to sharing the next few seasons with you.

God I cannot tell you how often I watched QaF. Over and over and over. And my hatred for him was EPIC. He broke up my OTP and that's unforgivable ;) Also he had some quirks I wasn't a big fan of as an actor. But he's tempered those (or grown up, more likely) and is so fantastic in this.
It's so strange having a TV show where they're always talking about places I go or have been often. (except Charming, obvs)
It's so good!

And watching Ron Perlman is like watching a fucking acting masterclass.
But really, it is SUCH a rich cast. I can't think of a weak link at ALL.

it is totally a rich cast. And really tight writing. I can't think of a single scene where I was wondering what was happening, or what a connection was, loose ends exist, of course, but they always get tied up or woven in. brilliant stuff.
