I am having a stupidly irritating afternoon. I just burned my hands on molten cheese, and I just opened my DVDs from netflix, only to discover that when I put Mad Men on my queue I moved season two up to the top instead of season one, so I got the first disc of the second season today.

However. Stupid irritations are fairly minor when it comes down to it. *moves on*

I've narrowed down the possible fonts for my fandom/affirmation tattoo down to my favorite three, and now I seek the learned opinion of you fine people. Which one do you like best? Or should I keep looking?

what a simply brilliant idea for a tattoo! \o/

Credit goes to [livejournal.com profile] sadcypress for the idea. I've been looking for the right tattoo for ages and ages. Then when she mentioned that there should be a fandom "dark mark" and it should be \o/ I knew I had finally found it!

So exactly my thoughts! SUCH a wonderfully perfect tattoo for fandom appreciation. AWESOME. :D

I like the first one the most, probably, but I voted for the second 'cause I feel like the first would be hard to get as a tattoo; I've yet to come across a tattoo artist who would do faded ink like that. But that's probably just my experience/the few places we have around my house. I love this idea, though. I have a couple of geeky tattoos, and one that represents fandom to me but it's from HP, since that was my first one--I like that this is fandom as a whole.

The artist I went to in England definitely did shading on my ex's tatts, so it must be possible. I don't know if it's even faded in the first one or just thinner. It certainly looks like one of the first two is the most popular. :D

I still am so in love with this idea! also very much in love with the suggestion you gave me for my Star Trek tattoo. will definitely have to save up for that one. \o/

I am very excited about your tattoo! I hope that you'll post pictures of it when you get it :D

Are the first two different??

(Also, just be sure you really think this'll still be meaningful to you in...40 years. Not saying it will or won't, just saying...be sure!)

[identity profile] rivers-bend.livejournal.com 2009-07-24 01:55 am (UTC)(link)
yes. they have different arms. the second ones are fatter.

and yes, mom ;)

I haven't decided for sure I'm getting it, but I want to know which one I will be getting if I do.

I might actually be lying, but I pretty much HAD to vote that way. ;p

*smooches*

[identity profile] fpvs.livejournal.com 2009-07-24 06:34 am (UTC)(link)
I like the head off of the last one, and the arms of the first one, but I'm not sure how the fatter head would go with the tapered arms. lol I also don't like the over-lapping line on the last head... But I prefer that shape.

*hehe* This is a bizarre conversation.

weirdly, your icon looks almost exactly like an icon floating around of Chris Pine</> Captain Kirk in his underwear humping Galia. Even though it's actually completely different.

HAHAHAHAHA
XD

How cool is that for a tattoo?! Where will you have it? I like the first one best btw :).

[identity profile] rivers-bend.livejournal.com 2009-07-24 11:48 pm (UTC)(link)
It seems the first one is most popular. that was the first one I chose, though I like them all.

I would get it on the inside of my left wrist.

Mad Men!! I love this show. I hope season 2 comes to SBS soon as I am hungry for more. It took a couple of episodes for me to get into it - the accuracy of the more hideous aspects of the era were painful to watch. Hope the right discs come to you soon.

Hope your burns heal soon, and I hope you will show us your new tat when it is ready to be revealed!

[identity profile] rivers-bend.livejournal.com 2009-07-24 11:49 pm (UTC)(link)
Hopefully the right disc will be here tuesday. Sadly, Netflix staff doesn't work on Saturdays.

My burn is much better. just slightly sensitive on my hand at the base of my thumb.

[identity profile] talia-sparkle.livejournal.com 2009-07-24 11:37 am (UTC)(link)
ooh very exciting! I like the first one best as it seems a little more personal, like the way you've drawn it is more individual, if that makes sense.
where are you having it done?

And Mad Men is just the best show! I hope you get series one very quickly so you can dive right in and enjoy!

[identity profile] rivers-bend.livejournal.com 2009-07-24 11:51 pm (UTC)(link)
I will have it done on the inside of my left wrist, assuming I decide to go ahead with it. :D

I am excited about Mad Men. I've heard great things!

my burns are much better. I was right next to the sink when I did it, so got cold water on them quickly. the skin on the back of my hand at the base of my thumb is a little sensitive but not painful.
