Mary coming between her boys? I can't tell if Sam knew that Mary was a hunter, and I can't remember.I'm not totally sure I buy Mary as the bringer of this message.

Remembering that Dean didn't swiftly and obediently follow ALL his father's orders; not when that meant killing Sam. It's hard for me not to see this making Dean's role in stopping things pushing Sam to sacrifice himself. Or allowing Sam to sacrifice himself. Clearly it wouldn't be any kind of push. Just an unlocked door. I just rewound the Castiel/Dean conversation during the ad break, and the first time I thought only Dean knew about the not always following his dad, but the second time, I think Castiel worded the promise that way for a reason.

Show did not adequately lead us to the point where I can believe that Sam is detoxing like this.

THIS SHOW IS FUCKING BREAKING MY HEART.

This is so the Dean confronting Sam with his incest fantasies scene. I can't be the only one thinking that. god. Even knowing it's Sam's fears and paranoia talking, hearing Dean say "You're nothing to me" feels like being stabbed in the chest.

Castiel lets Sam go. And then teleports to somewhere with water.

Jared is fucking KILLING me this week. He is hitting home run after home run. Though jesus, watching him cold-cock Bobby with the shotgun wasn't fun.

Okay, so quick re-cap for my memory: Dean would die for his brother, but he'll let Sam die before he lets his brother turn into a monster. Sam thinks Dean has always thought he was a monster. Castiel let Sam out of his panic room. Bobby thinks they should give Sam demon blood, but defers to Dean. Anna is not happy with the letting Sam out plan, but apparently Castiel had his orders. And some ?angels? came and took her away in a blast of white light. Part of Sam wants Bobby to shoot him, but when he won't, he's willing to hurt Bobby to get away.

hmmm. Except bobby doesn't seem to know he was hit in the head, so maybe Sam imagined that too. Was that not the Impala Sam drove off in? I wasn't paying a whole lot of attention, actually, more concerned with Bobby.

Ruby is playing the slinky woman a little too well, aaaaaand apparently gets off on the blood sucking. and also feels bad that Sam and Dean are fighting. Totally convincing, there, Ruby, totally convincing. I really do hope that she's got something up her sleeve and isn't to be trusted, or this is being played really badly.

YOU AND ME BOTH, SAMMY, YOU AND ME BOTH. god, I am weeping, here. Sam is so desperate to have his brother's love. As much as he says he wants to kill Lilith, that seems to be what he really really wants. And Bobby has to tell Dean to show Sam he loves him.

Dean, you're breaking his heart. And that isn't saving him. You're breaking MY heart.

again. recap: Sam wants Dean and (thinks he) needs Ruby. Sam thinks Dean is weak, stabbing Dean with the "You're not strong enough" schtick. Dean thinks Sam is untrustworthy and stabs him with the "You're a monster" schtick. Crying and punching happens. (or in my case, crying and groping for tissues)

And lots more punching. glass breaking, winding, and hello, CHOKING? SAM? WTF? Killing your brother who you love more than anything? NOT A GOOD WAY TO CONVINCE ANYONE YOU'RE NOT A MONSTER.

DEAN? NOT THE TIME TO EMULATE JOHN. WE'VE LIVED THIS BEFORE. KRIPKE YOU FUCKING BASTARD. DAMN YOU TO HELL.

I have not seen any spoilers at all for next week, including the "next week on SPN" bit, so please no mentions of same.

Here's a hideous thought. Ruby says she can't give Sam as much blood as he needs, but hey, no worries. There's the little sidebar action with the baby-blood-sucking demon!nurse. Mmm. Tasty. So what do we wanna bet Ruby's going to take Sam to the next level of depravity, ostensibly to gear him up to off Lilith, by making him...euw. I can't even say it.

I'm so hoping both Sam and Dean get tired of being manipulated by heaven and hell, realize that these polar extremes are really nothing more than flip sides of the same worthless plug nickel, and combine forces to defend Humanity against both of 'em...cut to bar scene, everybody knocks back beers and expresses their regrets about what gosh-darn fools they were, yawn, what say we turn in, meaningful exchange of affectionate glances, cue credit roll.

Absolutely fucking dying here.
