I'm very happy that dollhouse turned the corner for you!
I understood that it was offending people, and was sad, because I could see where it would go...
but I am actually disappointed that Alpha is crazy instead of righteously furious -- I did my dissertation on Mary Shelley and so the Creature in Frankenstein, with his righteous fury at being so badly treated by his maker, is always at the top of my list of people who have the right to be angry.
I was very very annoyed with Fetishistic Ballard, so blithely wounding and turning his back on Mellie/November, while fetishizing his Damsel Caroline to such an extent!! he was all, to Mellie "you are a ticking timebomb" read, hysterical, monstrous female, while to Echo, "you are my precious princess and could never hurt me" (even though she pretty much kicked his ass) -- and he is pretty much feeling guilty more for having sex with Mellie (even though she wanted him to) than for breaking her heart. I'm sorry, but why is an imprinted personality any less of a real person? We are all composites of our experiences (on top our genetic heritage), imho.
and now Echo is in the clutches of Mr. Crazy!! Alpha does not realize how awesome Echo is though-- she is not his plaything no matter what he thinks he imprinted her with.
cheers!!

I didn't actually think Alpha was crazy. I wish I hadn't deleted the episode after I watched it. It's such an ingrained habit with everything not SPN, and I was kicking myself as soon as I did it. I was in such a state of flail when it was revealed that Alan was alpha that I wasn't paying close enough attention. Curses. So what was he doing that was crazy? all I can remember is him gripping the doctor's face and kissing Echo.
I definitely got the feeling we are meant to be annoyed with Ballard. When he saw Victor and said, "My whole life. My whole life--" I read that as commentary on how the repercussions of the Dollhouse bleed everywhere. He is doing the right things for the wrong reasons and the wrong things for the right reasons and it's all fucked up.
I'm also not sure now that I read what happened between Alpha and Echo correctly. I thought he "imprinted" her with Caroline. I think I need to catch a dl of this episode and watch again before next week.

He seemed crazy to me because of how he attacked Victor and slashed him up... that seemed a bit unfair-- but I can't remember if Victor had a full imprint or if he was wandering around simple -- I think the latter....
I don't think his interactions with the doctor were that crazy, but he was pretty furious and manic...
I'm fairly certain Alpha didn't imprint Echo with Caroline, because she wouldn't have any interest in going with him or kissing on him... and the way he makes a bride for himself seemed the grossest of all... usually I am fairly sympathetic to that desire for a mate -- but the way he casually programs her to desire him is just as icky as it always is --- far ickier for him to do the programming than for her as the doll to act on it.... Essentially when he programs her to desire him, he becomes the Dollhouse -- whereas I was really hoping that Alpha would show up and together with Echo they'd bring the dollhouse down. Still might happen i guess, but just, ickier!
I really liked the conflict between Ballard and Boyd -- they are both righteous in their own ways, but wrong acting in others -- and the way they duke it out over Echo points out their weaknesses. (I favor Boyd-- if he is her pimp, he's also her colleague -- and I think he knows Echo better than anyone-- and he has a lot of respect for her, despite the fact that she is a doll and does a lot of work she doesn't remember)
I think the next ep is the season finale -- any idea if it's been renewed?

and then he kept touching Dr. Amy's face, and then he was BITING WITH ELIZA, and IDEK.
I have ALWAYS thought he was totally awesome, but never thought he was particularly sexy. BUT, DAMN.
