My DVDs live in a closed cabinet in my new apartment, and I kind of forgot about them. After watching Saved on Tuesday though, I decided today to go back and watch some of my old favourites. I started with Love Actually which is my favourite Christmas movie ever, even though it totally makes me cry. Emma Thompson's and Laura Linney's storylines especially. My fave is Andrew Lincoln and Keira Knightly, though I know it squicks some people.

I moved on to 10 Things I Hate About You, which I hadn't watched since Heath's death. It was making me a little bit sad, and I cuddled up under my duvet, and managed to sleep through the final third of it. (I've seen it probably 15 or more times, so it's not like I was confused when I woke up at the end.)

After that I watched Parenthood, which I bought for 99 pence when I was in England last summer. I hadn't seen it in YEARS. Everyone playing over 25 in it looked about 15-20 years older than they purported to be. It was kind of weirding me out. Keanu was SO SO young and pretty.

Finally, I watched Drop Dead Gorgeous. Amy Adams! I totally had no idea she was in that. Alison Janney continues to be utterly awesome. In that and 10 things. And everything else she does. Also, I have a total crush on Kirsten Dunst even though she's jail bait in that movie.

Tomorrow I need to pack my laundry to go home to mom and dad's. And tomorrow night I am going to a pot luck that I was invited to by people I've met once, at the house of someone I've never met at all. I'm nervous as hell. But there will be gainfully employed, and hopefully (at least a few) single lesbians there. *prepares to dip toe into dating waters again*

I finished off my bottle of Bailey's tonight. And now I'm feeling kind of sick. :(

I looooove Love Actually. After seeing it, I told my parents they needed to go see it about 27 times, and they finally went about three months later, and then called me up in the middle of a hot date to rave at me about it. My dad has now watched it 50+ times; it's his favourite movie ever. He cries every time, too, the big girl.

I love Colin Firth's story the best. And I adore Colin Frissel and his BIIIIIG NOB.

Colin Firth's is my almost favourite. But it's just edged out by Andrew Lincoln and his cards of love and boom box playing silent night. OH OH OH, and Liam and the little boy!! (why I only ever can remember the actors' names is beyond me.)

My parents insisted on watching it with the subtitles on, as they do with all British movies, and subtitles on English-speaking makes me crazy, so i can't watch it with them :(

Colin Frissel and his BIIIIIIIIIIIGGGGG NOBBBBB was awesome. Though it pains me SO MUCH when he's talking to the caterer...

Uhhh. Your parents watch it w/ the subtitles on? Seriously? o.O

AHAHAHAHA. I love/hate it when he's talking to the caterer. He is such a massive, massive loser.

I always get so disappointed by Laura Linney's story, though! My friend and I saw it at the movies, and the second time she answered her phone, we both went "NOOOOO!" out loud.

They do. It's PAINFUL to watch movies with them, at their house esp. because they have a super crap old tv too. *sigh* My dad's hearing isn't the best, and my mom can't understand when people are speaking quickly and with accents. Though Love Actually is ok for her, mostly. It's things like set in the north of England that she really struggles with.

Laura's story. GOD. it's like... NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO, totally. And he was just awful to her, and I'm sure it's not his fault, but like... she gave up that beautiful man for her brother who was awful and who she couldn't fix. D: D:

And Emma, in the bedroom after getting the Joni CDs. SLAYS me.

I have to say, that's probably the only movie I've seen where I didn't dislike Emma Thompson. She's so smug, and I can't stand smug people. 'S why I hate George Clooney. *ggg*

I love certain smug people. Like George. And Brad Pitt. Only ones I'll never meet though. I am not a fan of smugness in person AT ALL.

See, Brad doesn't come across as smug to me. But like, I don't LOVE him or anything. I mostly think he has a really, REALLY hot wife. :)

Oh, I like her face. It's nice.

I get confused by all the CSIs and Criminal Minds and CIs and whatnot, though.

I hope so too! Though I find it depressing that there seems to be a dearth of local queer fangirls my age :(

I have. My favourite role I've seen her in is in Miss Pettigrew. I absolutely adored that. Though she is awesome in whatever I've seen her in, for sure. She was always one of my faves in Drop Dead Gorgeous, too, just I didn't know it was her at the time! :D

Yay for movie days! I feel like watching Love, Actually now :-)

And good luck with dipping your (beautifully pedicured) toe into the dating waters again. May they be warm and welcoming. ♥

Love Actually is such a wonderful film.

haha, my toes are so so not beautifully pedicured at the moment! all I've done since the dreaded toenail incident is slap some brown polish over the pink, so they are all chipped and grown out and not good. um, yay, winter shoes? ;)
