From the Court's ruling:
"As past cases establish, the substantive right of two adults who share a loving relationship to join together to establish an officially recognized family of their own — and, if the couple chooses, to raise children within that family — constitutes a vitally important attribute of the fundamental interest in liberty and personal autonomy that the California Constitution secures to all persons for the benefit of both the individual and society
Furthermore, in contrast to earlier times, our state now recognizes that an individual’s capacity to establish a loving and long-term committed relationship with another person and responsibly to care for and raise children does not depend
upon the individual’s sexual orientation, and, more generally, that an individual’s sexual orientation — like a person’s race or gender — does not constitute a legitimate basis upon which to deny or withhold legal rights. We therefore conclude that in view of the substance and significance of the fundamental constitutional right to form a family relationship, the California Constitution
properly must be interpreted to guarantee this basic civil right to all Californians, whether gay or heterosexual, and to same-sex couples as well as to opposite-sex couples."
Wow! Actual logic. And what a great thing this is!
Maybe Sam & Dean should settle in California after all.
Re: From the Court's ruling:
I did love the questions the court members were asking at the hearing though. I hoped it would go this way.
haha, Let's get gay marriage established before we start asking for gay brothers to be allowed, shall we? ;)
Re: From the Court's ruling:
Although, practically speaking, the odds of an incestuous sibling marriage being a healthy life-enriching thing for both siblings seems pretty unlikely.
In the case of the Winchesters, healthy and life-enhancing are so far from their experience that I'm willing to cut them a break. 'Cause if the choice is between the two of them sharing a physical love or a series of one-night-stands, I'll take the Wincest.
Might even want to watch. :)

I feel like I should be congratulating all the cool people in the state of California! LOL!
Anyway, let me congratulate *you*, at any rate, and tell you how very happy this makes me not only for you and for gay Californians but for ALL the LGBT people out there. There is hope, and this proves it.
