(or not) It pretty much does exactly what it says on the tin.

Transformers is deeply cheesy, but I thoroughly enjoyed it. Basically, if a film has stunts, bombs and tits, I'm happy. And this has those in spades. I laughed lots, and clapped quietly when various actors showed up, and generally had a blast. I laughed a couple times AT the film rather than with it, but hey. The special effects were AMAZING. And the guy who came in and sat down next to me just after it started smelled so strongly of pot I swear i got a contact high just from the odor.
Mood:: 'so tired' so tired

I haven't read a bad word about Transformers! I'll put it on my 'to see' list :-)

my friend who I saw it with had quite a few bad words about it, and I can't actually disagree with any of his points, but if you go into it expecting a Michael Bay film rather anything with a great script that makes a lot of sense and really works as a tight story, I can't see that you'll be disappointed. It's fun more than art, for sure.

Contact high! Legal and fun!

So does this find you in San Francisco?

I am back in California. I move to the city 1 August. This particular film found me in Santa Cruz, where every third person is baked. Which is probably hyperbole, but seemed true in my days as a student...

I loved Transformers and considering it's based upon a 70's cartoon show and given Michael Bay's rep, it lived up to expectations not to mention it had Raven falling head over heels for that Carmero! OMG! So any one day Raven just happens to half a million laying around and is need a new car...

and besides - part of it was filmed in New Mexico!!!!! *yay!*

I just thought it was so much FUN! Despite some of the random things they obviously just put in for demographic purposes that made me raise an arched eyebrow. I adore Shia LeBouef or however you spell his name, anyway. And the girl who knew all about cars? yummy.

I'm going to see this, possibly tonight. I was skeptical, because, you know, Michael Bay, but I've heard so many good things...

Glad you had fun, hon, stunts, bombs, tits, and all.

This is about as Michael Bay as MB films get, so if you don't like him, it may not be your thing. It's got sun flares, helicopters, glorified military grunts, cheesy lines...

But I am easily amused. And the special effects are just stunning.

Aaaannd...I just got back.

The middle kinda dragged, and I had a hard time telling the good Transformers from the bad Transformers during some of the fights, but overall, pretty entertaining. Much better than the last MB film I had to sit through, "Parts: The Clonus -" ... uh, I mean "The Island". My nephew seemed to like it pretty well too, especially the little jabbery bad robot. And, you're right, great special effects. Reluctant thumbs up.

i had to use my andrew icon up there, because, as a buffy fan, i poked my sister's arm when tom lenk showed up and whispered, "it's andrew!", who she hates.

I clapped in delight when I saw it was andrew. My friend looked at me, slightly askance. He might have thought I was clapping at the blonde chick (who he thought was hot). I was saying 'Yay! andrew!' to myself though. (he hasn't had a tv in years, and so is not a buffy fan.)

I totally agree with all your points. But, generally, if I want to like a film I'll like it. unless it's just dire and horrifically violent.

Blond girl was pretty hot, but in a way that made me roll my eyes a bit: WHO will be the data analysist who figures out the alien mystery? The hairy, heavyset, bearded guy? The incompentant nerd from Buffy? Or the genius blonde bombshell with the sexy Aussie accent? Can anyone possibly guess?

But then, all part of the cheesy fun.

...yay andrew!
