I've been largely grumpy lately. Apart from the getting into grad school thing. But today I will make a happy post. *g*

I was up at the crack of dawn (stupid BST, it would have been post dawn if it had been Saturday) to go to London to see [livejournal.com profile] tigertrapped. We met for breakfast, I had french toast, which I've never had in an English resturant before (it was delicious), we gossiped, chatted, and generally had a lovely time, then walked to Leicester Square, bought tickets to Hot Fuzz, walked out towards Covent Garden then back to Leicester Square, where we had coffee/frappucino and more conversation before heading to the cinema to eat popcorn and laugh like drains. At one point I cackled in a most undignified fashion. Fortunately there was only one other person in the cinema and Tiger seemed as amused as I was.

I actually (shock/horror) think I liked Hot Fuzz even more than I liked Shawn of the Dead. Probably because I've seen hundreds of cop flicks and only about 10 zombie movies. And I'm not big on British Sit-coms, and my friend who is assures me that Shawn has a lot to do with that.

We had a great time, and I was sad to say goodbye.

Good continued however. I texted B from the train and he agreed to pick me up at the train station so I didn't need to get a taxi, we got home and I discovered that he'd spent a goodly portion of the day cleaning and throwing stuff away and tidying things, in preperation for selling the house. *shocked* Not only that, but in my exhausted state I decided to take a bath and he brought me a cup of tea in the bath, AND *even more shocked* cooked supper! B does not cook. I swear he's going to lose two stone when he's not living with me any more. But one of the things he can make is home made macaroni cheese. and he did. So I got tea and supper. He invited Christopher around but he's lovely enough to put up with me in my dressing gown. Which is just as well because the thought of climbing two flights of stairs just to get dressed doesn't appeal at all.

So all in all a good day. Though I feel dreadfully guilty that I got home easily and [livejournal.com profile] tigertrapped has had train fuckwittage extrordinaire from the sound of it.

I feel very lucky indeed. I am hoping someday in the next year to get to your neck of the woods, and am hoping I will get to meet chat and have fun with you as well, if you would like to do such a thing.

My journal has been green for about a week. I lost the whole of my old journal design due to fuckwittage on my part, so I decided to go for a whole new look.

yay! I don't usually invite myself places, but I would love to get to meet you. I've never been outside CA west of the mississippi, and want to see some of the rest of the United States. So that is part of my plan while I am bumming around doing this student thing I've got planned.

Does this mean I'm forgiven for the [livejournal.com profile] club_dominion sell-out? (Your man Bill Nighy has a cameo in Hot Fuzz, btw, and we thought of you).

Pffftttttt! As if I could ever stay angry at you dear Tiger! *squeeezes*

Hot Fuzz and Bill Nighy.

*blinks*shakes head* I don't think I've heard of this movie. *wanders off to IMDB*

*LOL!*

Metropolitan Chief Inspector Kenneth

Can't the man ever pick a roll with a simple name/title?!

Kenneth!?! *g*

I too had a lovely time, darling. Your my new favourite cinema buddy (although I did think I might have to get you an ice-pack and or a paramedic when the church roof fell to earth *g*).

see, and I'd managed to forget entirely about that scene in the wake of the other church roof scene. *shudder*

It was rather more graphic than I'd expected. But still hilarious and awesome.

I'm glad I wasn't the only one to think that scene was grotesque. Ew! That aside, it's a great film. I hadn't laughed so much in ages! Sounds like you and Tiger had a whale of a time in London. Oh, to have a life outside orthopaedics ... even when I'm not in the hospital my radar is tuned in to people limping. Argh! *g*

I dont' do impalings well. At all. I refused to go out with the paramedics when I was doing my training for fear they would be called to an impaling. And so far I've been lucky and they've never been called when they are running me back to the birthing centre. Some of the midwives have had to go to RTA's and heart attacks and overdoses and all sorts.

I see pregnant people everywhere. It's natural *g*

I'd be more worried if you did do impalings well! Why did midwives go out to trauma? Do you attend if there's a pregnant woman involved?

Scrubbed in for more surgery, and so far I've only been sprayed with blood once. Now that was an experience ... erk.

When we go on ambulance transfers (I work in a midwife unit, ie no doctors onsite so if a woman needs a doctor we have to take her in an ambulance to an obstetric unit) we often get a lift back with the crew. if they get another call while we're in the back they go to that and we have to go along and either wait while they deal with whatever it is or ring for a taxi to come get us from wherever it is if waiting isn't feasible.

mmm mmm blood spray. Though it's better than amniotic fluid somehow. and much better than vomit.
