My mother has been here 35 minutes. Bearing in mind she's been travelling for 20 hours or so, including airport transfers and such, I thought she would want to sit, relax, you know... that sort of thing. No. she's GARDENING! Already. The woman is insane. This will be a fun 10 days, I can tell.
Mood:: 'confused' confused

At least she's gone to bed now. I decided not to feel guilty that I was sitting on my computer and not helping her. cos I know she's going to have me cleaning all day tomorrow. *sigh*

Mums... can't live with them... can't live without them

It's a mother thing - when my mom visited me this weekend, she not only cooked for me, she also deemed it neccesary to clean my oven. Twice. It wasn't even that dirty to begin with! I'm not a pig, honestly.

She visited for a weekend and cleaned your oven twice??? I am not sure my mom has ever even cleaned her OWN oven...

my poor mom... ever since I decided to move back to California, I've been avoiding the 'stuff' issue. which has lead to avoiding cleaning up anything too, and the house is filled with stacks of paper and 'things' of mysterious necessity and origin. she and dad have agreed to paint and garden and generally make the house look saleable, but they are going to have to kick my ass a lot first. *sigh*

The kicking of your own ass is never a fun experience, even when it is neccesary. Still, it's nice to have parents that are willing to help. :)

especially when they are willing to help by flying six thousand miles across an ocean and a continent. That's kind of above and beyond the call of duty really. :)

That is pretty amazing, yeah. Your parents sound like lovely people.

My mother didn't fly across an ocean for my sake, but she did dare leaving my younger brother unattended for the weekend (the place looked a mess when she got back, but she expected as much).

My parents do pretty much rock. Mom showed me all their pictures of Mississippi, where they were helping to re-build a house destroyed in Katrina. They do amazing things now they are retired.

I hope I can be half as cool someday.

Ach, little brothers. :D

Hee! Your mom sounds like my dad! I swear, I once walked into the livingroom and looked out the window - my dad was planting flowers. My mom? Drinking beer and watching baseball in sweats.

I sometimes think my parents missed their true sexual callings.

Are you being sarcastic? I hope not. Besides, aren't ALL mothers insane?

You've got to love mums!

I practically have to sellotape my mum to the chair to stop her pottering about and cleaning stuff! lol!

Hope you have a nice time together!
