The witness had blood in her hair, plastering strands to her cheek. She was sitting on the floor, staring at her hands where they dangled between her drawn up knees. Sara checked her notebook for the woman’s name.

“Shane?” The woman glanced up and then away again. Sara crouched in front of her. “My name’s Sara Sidle. I work for the crime lab. I need to take a few samples…” She trailed off when Shane continued to stare at her hands.

“He killed her. How could he just… He killed her” Shane’s voice broke on the words and she shook with the effort of keeping all the pieces from flying apart.

Sara had a swab in her hand, ready to take her samples, but what she really wanted to do was cradle this woman’s face and wipe away the blood and hold her while she cried. Which was completely inappropriate.

I have to say, I am sorely tempted to take this story and run with it. And Sara would not end up caring overmuch about what is and isn't appropriate.

Dude! This is awesome.

Actually, what I find really interesting is Shane isn't her normal cool self. Obviously, she wouldn't be in that situation, but it's just so different. I love that.

I'm glad that it's ok even though Shane is not super cool Shane that we know and love.

The woman she was sleeping with did just get shot in the head right in front of her by a man who then shot himself, so I figured that might put a damper on her spirits ;)

There shall be more. I've started it and it is now officially a WiP...

I'm not a CSI fan, but have seen a few episodes, and I'm up to the beginning of season 2 in The L Word, which makes my opinion a bit useless, but I really liked your drabble. Even though Sara's voice sounds to me like the Spanish woman who dubs her (because my mother, who can't understand English, is actually the reason why I have watched a few CSI episodes). Which makes my opinion even more useless. But anyway, I think you did a great job with the characterization.

I will so read that longfic you're writing if/when you post it. :D

Yeah, I'd strugle with that choice too!!! Hmmmmmmm... I think I'd have to go Sara over Shane. I'm one of the few lesbians on earth that don't think Shane's that great. NO idea why, I just don't.
