It's actually very light on fantasy elements - magic exists in this universe and it's tied to church ceremonies. She learns some things about how it works on her own and when she audits university classes; her love of learning is lovelyyyyyyyyyy.

So, you'll get a bit of vocabulary and learn as she does. The thaumaturgy is v. important but it's nowhere near high fantasy. Very novel of manners though and I just ATE them up.
