I am heartbroken over Japan, and more selfishly feeling very grumpy about springing forward, but this happened in my face, and it's hard not to smile.

Owls really are my favourite, I think.

I love owls. When I was wandering around my brother-in-laws' parent's mountain home in the Cascades years ago, I was out just near dark and knew better because there were hunting critters out and I was not cool enough to be among them. As I was heading back up the long gravel drive, I heard the sound of large wings just behind, and instinctively ducked. I felt feathers just brush my jacket, and then a huge owl flew past and rested on a telephone pole high above me. He looked so smug that I couldn't even fault him for mistaking me for a rabbit or just making fun of me in general.

ADORABLE! I have a good owl story to tell but it would take too much effort to type out right now, as I am feeling gross and sickly! It can be summed up in a sort of mysterious fashion, though. Like so:

My sister and her family lives in Japan (Tokyo) so we have been very concerned and just hoping for the best. I wish the world would settle down a bit!

Luckily for us she emailed me as soon as she could to say she was allright! She lives in Tokyo so she was one of the lucky ones.

You could dress Inigo up like an owl for Halloween :-) He would look cute in a little toque too.
