rivers_bend: (men: adam blow kiss)
So I'm gonna tell a slightly embarrassing story on myself right now. At Adam's show in London, he asked the crowd if we knew what his show was about. Totally without my knowing I was going to do it, I screamed, "LOVE!!!" And immediately started laughing at my own outburst. I'd heard the patter six times in person and IDEK how many times on video at that point, but I don't think I was saying it because it was part of his shtick, but because that is what his shows really ARE about for me.

I originally planned to see one Glam Nation show. I was lucky enough to have two people I adore say they would go with me to Atlantic City, and despite tornado-caused power outages, more tolls than we could pay, sore feet, accidental ridic expensive bottles of wine, and the hell-hole nature of AC itself, it was amazing. And it made me need more. I was lucky enough in Atlanta to have another woman whom I love agree to go to both shows with me. And even better, with an extra couple months of fandom under my belt, I was able to meet new fangirls whom I now love, too. And in the UK, again, I got to see the shows with women who now mean the world to me, even the ones I'd not so much as exchanged a single LJ comment with before meeting them in person. Same thing with LA. Being able to experience something like that with someone who knows just what I mean when I grab her hand or nudge her shoulder, getting to hug people whom I've only gotten to squee with online, seeing people in the flesh who had been only twitter avatars before... feeling this amazing connection...

In Adam's speech before If I Had You, he says, "No matter how much money, fame, success, or even sex you have in your life, it doesn't mean shit unless it's connected with love." It's a little corny, sure, but you know what? I have little to none of any of those things, but I do have love.

Not that it takes Adam to bring me awesome fangirls. I have been lucky enough to spend most of the last seven months visiting fangirls. Women I met through House fandom, or Supernatural fandom, or through that magical thing that happens where you're not really sure where someone came from but you wake up one day and find that you don't want to live without them in your life. Some of those women are now Adam fans too. In fact, all the people I set out to attend shows with I met originally through SPN fandom. Some of the are not, and are no less awesome (though possibly less glittery *g*) because of that. And I am so so lucky to know every one of them. Seriously. The women I have met in the last five years have taught me more about loving who I am and what I have the potential to do and be than anyone I'd met in the 33 years of my life prior to that. I've found my people :D What I am grateful to Adam for is that he reminds me to never take that for granted, and to not only appreciate the lessons but live them.

And with that, I shall stop schmooing all over the place <3

Gotta jet rn, but I will post about the show later!
