This was hilarious! I could totally hear the whole thing. This was my favorite part:

“I’m thinking it’s the new job and her dad being in the hospital… Why? Have you heard something?”

“God no. Don’t you think I’d have told you if I did?”

“I don’t know, I never know with you. I sometimes think you get a perverse pleasure out of seeing the rest of us miserable.”

“Exactly! How do I get to see you miserable if I keep these things to myself?”

HEE! And of course, I love the Haight reference as well that sets it in the city. I take it this is what you wrote when you were visiting with [livejournal.com profile] karaokegal?
