There was a lot to be said for living in a crypt. Not just as a vampire either. From a poet’s perspective. It beat a garret hands down. Who wanted to live under some old eaves when you could live underground? And moody, dark, suffering? He shared his living room with a corpse. Extra points for that surely.

Just because Buffy lived under the eaves. Well, there was definitely that ‘in the roof line’ look to her room anyway. Not that she’d let him in of course. You could see quite a bit from under the tree though, as long as she had her light on. And hadn’t remembered to shut the curtains. He wasn’t jealous though. Not of her eaves. Not of anything else. Or anyone else.

Angel had seen her room. Probably even been in her bed. Spike hadn’t seen her bed. The angle was all wrong. And that time he’d tried to climb on the roof for a better look… best not to think about that. Let’s just say it’s a good thing vampires heal quickly.

The tree was wide. Mostly it probably hid a guy from the street. Not that there were many passers by at this time of night. It could be embarrassing though to be caught with your hand in your pants. Especially standing outside the slayer’s window. Not something you’d want to have to explain if it were to come up around the poker table. There weren’t enough kittens in the whole of the world to make that gossip go away.

Spike had a good imagination. And there was the mannequin back at the crypt. Buffy had turned her light out anyway. There was nothing more to see here. Best to head home. A vampire could seriously take care of himself in his crypt.
