“Harder!”

He tried to go at it with more force but found it difficult.

“I am never going to get there if you can’t even get me going.”

He sighed to himself. He really didn’t know why he put up with the woman. She was never satisfied. He shifted his weight to get a better angle and moved his hands so he could put more welly behind it.

“All right, that’s better,” she cried. She was moving her feet now, trying to keep up with him.

He had some momentum behind him now and he could feel her moving faster. He almost had her there. She’d be at the top of the hill in a second and from there she could make it no matter what he did.

With one final Herculean effort on his part she was there and crying out, “Yes! Yes. Thank you!”

He heard the engine catch as she popped the clutch and she drove off down the hill.
