how do I know TWO people who had hoop skirts? like, with actual hoops? not just massive crinolines? Am I just a couple years too young for this craze? WHAT IS GOING ON WITH THE HOOP SKIRTS?

Well, I'm from the South. THAT'S HOW WE ROLL.

Actually, the hoop skirt was sophomore year (1985) with actual hoop:

Looked a lot like this random internet pic, very lacy and frothy and virginal:

Junior year was similar but IN PINK! *cue Psychedelic Furs*

Then Senior year I got at least a bit of a clue and it was dark blue satin off the shoulders, lots of cleavage (still with giant crinolines, tho). :D:D:D

I love it! I am now torn between being grateful and glad that I did not grow up in the south :D
