MAINE BECOMES 5TH STATE TO ALLOW SAME-SEX MARRIAGE

and

The D.C. Council overwhelmingly approved a bill yesterday to recognize same-sex marriages performed elsewhere


I cannot help but feel that this is the sliver lining to the loss at the polls we had here in CA in November. Things are a-changing. For the better.

I still think that the trouble with CA was that there were too many people who never thought 8 would pass so didn't bother voting, and too many people who thought a "yes" vote was a Yes to marriage, not a yes to bigotry. Plus the millions and millions spent by the H8TERS.

But I live in hope of change :)

The news about my home state made me so pleased today. I was born there, my family's been there since there French-Indian Wars and I've never been more proud to call myself a Mainer!

If we carry on at this rate it will be all 50 states by the end of the year! I'm not holding my breath on that, but it would be awesome if we could continue to make such a start!

I live in the SF bay area but a lot of really conservative people live in southern Calif and I think they fucked it up. But yay for the good people of Maine! step by step we can eliminate discrimination!
