I've never even tried Big Bang before, intimidated by the word count, because my average fic is 5k, but what is life if not a challenge? And so many awesome people are signing up. \o/
It's the maintaining a single plot over that number of words that is intimidating. I just have to think of my verses, which have a plot, it's just I posted them in pieces. :)
YAY! That's awesome that you signed up! I feel you on the length thing, my average word count is about 2,000 or something ridiculous like that, so 20,000 is a rather intimidating number!
GO YOU!!! I think it's fantastic you've signed up! And if you're really daunted by the length, then maybe consider a format that easily breaks into sections - I don't know, letters or diary entries with associated fic, which all fits into an overarching plot. :)
It's the overarching plot I have a problem with. Though my Stanford verse has one, and my Powers verse, and they are probably 20k at least. It's just I didn't ever intend them to be long when I started them.
I suspect it WON'T be 96k, though, whatever I do *g* ♥
Yay! Welcome to the craziness that is writing a Big Bang fic. I may have to sign up over there, since I think this crossover Big Bang is going to be done today. I'm nothing if not a glutton for punishment. *grins* Plus, how can I resist when I'll be in such fine, talented company???
You can do it! I'm excited so many awesome folks on my flist are signing up for this :)
I'm debating...but MY average word count is, like, 1000 ;) I think this would be a good exercise for me though, a challenge, so maybe we'll be in together!
I have just looked again at my class schedule for this coming semester, and wondered afresh what I am doing. But it will be good. I'll just have to cut back on TV :)
*clings to your hand* ME TOO! My first year. i never did it before because I have yet to default on a challenge and I didn't want that to be the one I did it to. But but... well, I've had this idea for over a year and it just keeps reminding me how awesome it will be if I pull it off.
OMG, ME TOO. I mean, I just wrote a story that was 11k, and that was my longest by far. But I have an idea for a long fic, so I just went ahead and signed up.
My issue isn't so much coming up with the idea, but staying motivated to write it all. I tend to write in these bursts of inspiration, and kick it all out in one sitting, plus one look-through for mistakes. There's no way I can do that for a 20k fic.
HOWEVER, I FEEL CONFIDENT THAT WE CAN BOTH DO THIS. Sorta.
My longest was 10K and I might actually write in the same verse for this. It almost killed me to write something that long without posting it, though. so. Everything else I've written that turned out long was written in little pieces.

The wordcount still scares me, together with the deadline; same reason I have never participated in NaNoWriMo. :)
But, here's me holding both thumbs up for you and wishing luck!
