Point the first, I am no longer a funnel cake virgin. I kinda wish I were though, because I feel horrible. Though this might have more to do with having gotten heatstroke.

We spent all day at the Tapestry Art Fair in San Jose, talking to people about PFLAG and Proposition 8. We talked to some really interesting people, including a few who were undecided or leaning towards voting Yes, and who are now planning on voting NO! \o/

12-5 in the heat and just.... yeah. I drank about 5 litres of water and stayed in the shade of the tent thing and put cool towels on my neck, but it wasn't enough. I am SUFFERING.

But I feel fantastic for having done some campaigning, and so I'm counting the day a win. Am finally home and am going to go to bed shortly. No premire night for me. My head hurts too much to turn on the TV. My DVR better be doing its job.

Our booth was between the Democratic party booth and the Scientology people. Interesting.

Must find more pain killers.

What were the Scientology people doing where you were at? Was it not a political thing? Why the fuck were they there?

*gives you pain killers and cold drinks with clinky ice cubes*

We were in the Non-Profit Row at an art fair. I didn't really understand either. but no, it was not all political. There were many political peoples there, and then some not so. Still, sitting that close to that many copies of L Ron Hubbard books may have contributed to my headache. SHINY COVERS!

Dare I ask what one does to lose her funnel cake virginity?

one eats one of these (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Funnel_cake), sadly, in my case, pretty much all by myself, as mom and dad both took one bite and declined further contact. It was reallllly good, but too much fat and carbs for a day in the sun, and just blergh.

I have never heard of them before. And looks yummy - for a much cooler day!

Ah, but, you see, you only ever get funnel cake at fairs and festivals, which are usually really hot. They are so good after one bite, and so disgusting soon after. Do Australians do fairs with all these hideous foods (and correlating rides to shake you all up and make you want to hurl said foods)?

The Texas State Fair (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Texas_State_Fair) is renowned for inventing new and disgusting fried treats (see the last paragraph of the article).

Oh yes - we have the requisite uber fried and sweet food for regurgitating after fun rides! But we don't have funnel cake ;(

Hope you are feeling better soon. Wish I could teleport you to my back deck for some cool, reviving, weather and crisp fresh air.

GO you for getting involved!! And congrats for informing people who can now make a difference!!

Did you get an opportunity to look at any of the art at the fair?

I am sorry you feel yucky, but how awesome that you were able to educate some people!

I meant to make a post about the change of wording in Prop 8, but I forgot to. I so can't see it passing, but I am so glad people like you and your parents are out there helping to ensure it won't! *hugs*

I'm sorry your funnel cake experience was hampered by the heat stroke, and I hope you're o.k.:) But yeah, I LOVE the funnel. LOL *muah*
