I was busy feeling sorry for myself because I am STILL phlegmlord, and it's been a week and a half and I'm going through tissues like they are going out of style, but I decided to focus on little things that make me happy instead.

Like how with a little Barkeeper's Friend and 45 seconds of gentle rubbing, I can make my yucky tarnished copper-bottomed saucepan all sparkly and shiny. It actually makes me love that copper tarnishes so easily, because I love making it clean again.

Like how I have thoughtful, caring, generous, beautiful people in my live journal and in my life.

Like how Cat Deeley is gorgeous and I know this even when LJ is cruelly withholding my journal header from me(I finally remembered about shift+refresh), because I have hours of SYTYCD on my DVR and because she's so easy to remember with her smiles and kind words and enormous hugs and just general delightfulness.

Like how within the next few weeks, I will have a gas stove again and the moving trauma will be over.

Like how 700 threadcount sheets are AWESOME.

Like how writing makes me feel like I am the center of my own joy.

So you, gorgeous people, what simple pleasures make you feel shiny?

what simple pleasures make you feel shiny?

Talking to you :) Which I haven't gotten to do much of, of late. *snuggles*

Writing.

My air conditioner working.

Good fanfiction to read.

Cranberry-cherry limeade from Sonic.

*smooches you*

hey, sweetie! It has been far too long. stupid busy-ness. *hugs*

those do indeed sound like very shiny things. I'm kind of glad there is no Sonic here because I think I could easily get addicted to that.

Mm... I like having a fridge. Full of food. That I can help myself to any time of the day or night.

Having the internet at my finger tips. And all the associated knowledge and fic.

I love that mild doses of codeine are available over the counter here and can dull the pain caused by the muscles in my neck and shoulder.

And most especially? Most especially simple? I love a glass of water from the fridge. Filled with ice cubes. To drink down and quench my thirst. That, makes me feel especially shiny. :)

Hi, sweetiepie! Simple pleasures - when the people I like here are happy and posting happy stuffs. When my kids learn something new, and are so excited about it. When my oldest, rather surly child laughs unexpectedly, and I can't help but laugh with him. When my baby brother, who is all alone in Puerto Rico, taking care of the homestead at 17, calls me up because he misses me. COFFEE. Feeling creative - and having the kids otherwise occupied so that I can actually DO something with it, lmao. Doing little things for people. Having time to talk to YOU. Which, uh. Rarity.

Hi, baby. *kisses*

Honey! *clings to you*

Yay for ALL those things. I think especially the laughing. And you. I feel like I hardly have time to talk to anyone any more.

Simple pleasures that cheer me up:

Buttercream Icing Scented Shower Soap (brand: Jaqua)
Vanilla Earl Grey tea
Toasted soda crackers
Miss Marple mystery DVDs (the new slick ones)
Knitting (while watching Miss Marple)
Summer thunderstorms

You have made me want buttercream icing *g*

those all sound like absolutely lovely pleasures *hugs*

posted by [identity profile] purridot.livejournal.com at 07:36pm on 18/07/2008
The icing smell is INSANELY good, and much healthier than ingesting the real thing. You won't have to once you slather yourself in buttercream body butter, lip gloss, and hand lotion...

One of the sweetest things about you is how you make everyone around you think cheerful thoughts <3

Simple pleasures!

Metallikitty draping himself over my ankles when I put my feet up and read.

The smooth bite of dark roast coffee and that exquisite first sip from a freshly brewed pot

The multicolored blooms on my pet moss rose plant

Naps!

Stupid flu should just leave you alone already.

Simple things to enjoy?
Knowing there's more Stanford-era fic as soon as I have the time to read.
Hearing the Muse murmuring of plots I thought were dead and buried.
The thought of Jared mooning Jensen.
Dark Angel's world.
Green mint tea.
Crocheting.
Friends.
Family.
Alec.
Ben.

Mmmmm. Simple pleasures.

A good song that moves me, no matter how many times I've heard it. Going into the dining hall at this campground and knowing that there's always hot coffee available. Sitting in my office while I work, just listening to music while DVDs burn. Seeing the looks on campers' faces when they get their photos and DVDs. The Hairspray soundtrack. =)

I'm sorry you're not feeling so well. I hope you feel so much better. ♥

Driving home from work on a Friday afternoon with the sun shining down on me, and Def Leppard blaring from my car stereo. ;)

And my River. ♥

I'm not sure about the Heavy Rain, but I will nod to all the others *g*

posted by [identity profile] gregoria44.livejournal.com at 12:35am on 19/07/2008
I should qualify - heavy rain when you are inside in a dry/cosy place, looking out at said rain. Whole world of difference, right there!

I'm just moving to the actual city instead of the outskirts/boonies. So about 7 miles. I'll be right in the middle of the dyke neighbourhood, right next to a grocery and the bus that goes right to school and a lovely cafe with wifi... It will be awesome *g*

Some days I love writing so much. Outside everything is confusion, but inside I have characters keeping me company. And that's such a cool thing.

Swimming outside, in the sea or in fresh water lakes where the water is like glass.

Sodas made with Coca cola and vanilla icecream!

My cat when he decides to play fetch and will only drop the ball of paper on the keyboard of my computer.

Sitting by the heater, and reading things people wrote. Mmm. :)

I had to google Bar Keeper's Friend as I hadn't heard of it before.(For some reason I was thinking it might have been a Bloody Mary mix, because IIRC Kim and Aggie once used tomato sauce to shine copper.)

I hope you are feeling better soon. *hugs*

today's simple pleasures:

*watching my wild birdies stuffing their faces at my bird feeder.

*when my big brown dog randomly decides I need reassuring, and gently dabs the back of my hand with his tongue to see if I'm okay.

*my fabulously warm, soft and snuggly doona.

*the cold slap of fresh, freezing, air that hits my face when I go outdoors. (Sounds awful, I know, but I love it.)

Barkeeper's Friend is awesome stuff. I've never used tomato sauce, but I have used a lemon and some baking soda.

Awesome, awesome pleasures. *snuggles with you under your doona*

My apologies if I've mentioned this before, but have you tried mucinex? It's OTC and works really well. Hope you feel better soon! :)
