It's getting to the point that I'm wondering if she's insane or if I am.

Wow, fun neighbors. You can hear their music from across the courtyard? Holy crap! "Standing" isn't even a loud song! I'm as big a Giles fan as anyone, but why would you need to listen to him a 175 decibals?

I haven't really had any sound problems since I moved in except one party at the pool one night, but yeah, today is noisy. I wonder if maybe the music person was in the shower or something and wanted to hear the music over the water? because the Giles/Tara was really loud (like in my room loud) and then the first Evanessance song, but now it's just loud enough that I am still pretty sure it's evan... but not enough to know what song or to really hear it. Why the person had a single OMwF song at the front of E is a mystery to me though.
The courtyard is fairly small, maybe 30 yards across? and kind of functions as an echo chamber, so things are probably louder than they appear. and ahh as I've been typing this, the music is gone :)

I'm going to have to ask for constant updates on your wacky neighbors. I'm sorry, but that's just the way it's going to be.
Actually, consider yourself lucky. Last year we had a guy living across the street from us who was into throwing loud parties with techno music. During the week. At 2 am.
I called the cops on him once.

If I just blast it out into the courtyard I only up the ante. :)

Many neighbours back at the old place, there was a really nice girl who only ever played the first coupla verses of Dido's 'Thank You', at full volume before turning it off altogether.
Pals of ours would come over and groan when it blasted through the wall. I would then impress them by saying, "Don't worry, it will stop in precisely 58 seconds," proving once and for all that I am an incurable know it all!
I always wanted to know what it was about the first few bits of that song that floated her boat, but a bit like Bush's promises, I guess we'll never know.

this totally cracked me up. and reminded me of why I often miss talking to english people.
i have songs that I sometimes play the first part twice before moving on to the rest, but never loud and never with then turning off.
People are strange :D

My music/neighbours anecdote involves a drunken party, 3 am, and a community sing-song of American Pie (the original version) about 10 times in a row. And it is an effing LONG song...
I really hate it when something makes me dislike a song I once enjoyed.
