I know! right? I mean how often do you see grown men, politicians no less, crying on television. He totally let his heart right out there. and he put his fucking money where his mouth was.

Yep. I mean, he was open to begin with, and now he's just all wonderful and awe-inspiring.

He knows he's probably going against his constituency and he's still done it. *applauds him* I totally need to find his email address and send him a thank you email.

I saw that yesterday and sent him a quick note of support. I figured he was going to get so many nasty notes, I might as well.

That's a fantastic idea. I really hope this doesn't come back to bite him on the ass.

Wow. That was amazing to watch. He totally made me cry too. I'm just really impressed by his standing up for GLBT rights.

Love your icon, btw. :)

yeah, my mom emailed me and said to get out the tissues. It was a good warning. I think it was an awesome thing to do. I wish more politicians would take a stand.

can't take credit for that icon, but I love it too ;)

That's just damn-right awesome. When I was in Dallas this summer, I met Ed Oakley in a gay bar. -grin- Nice guy.

And thank you so much hon, for the link and for the contact info. I sent him a note thanking him for his bravery, and for the wonderful message. God, I want to see so much more of this...

Wouldn't it be just amazing to see more of this in politics? If every politician who had a gay child or a gay staffer or a gay friend would stand up and say, 'The people I love need equal rights,' I have to believe there would be a whole lot more.

Not that you should need a gay child or friend to believe that freedom and justice for all should actually mean ALL.

Hell, we still have trouble with racism, and what year is this again? I want to see more love for EVERYONE spread across the world. I just can't see how that'd be a bad thing.
