It's Wednesday again. I'm feeling a nasty taste in my mouth at the idea of making a post that can, with little imagination, be seen as objectifying women. At the same time, women are sexy, and attractive, and have every right to express themselves as sexual beings. Women have the right both to have their cleavage showing and to be shown respect. At the same time. I make these posts because I love women. And most of my LJ experience is based on the sexualization of men. As much as I love that, I want some WOW for the women around here too. I want this because I find women sexy. And powerful and talented and awesome in many ways. But also sexy. Today my fear that painting a woman as sexy takes away her power and makes her vulnerable is rearing its ugly head. However, letting the actions of others persuade me to let that fear control my actions leaves an even worse taste in my mouth than pointing out that these women--in addition to being talented, or sweet, or funny, or hard-working, or compelling in a role, or generous with their time, or all of the above--are hot and aesthetically pleasing. So I am making this post.
