I haven't counted all the words I've written in the last year. I haven't made a table of how many drabbles, how many Housefics, how many pieces of original fiction. What I have done, is go through month by month and look at every piece of fiction I've posted, said something about it (even if it's just the pairing or the title) and made a link. (honestly, if I never have to type [a href… again it will be too soon)

I've written a lot. A LOT. Way more than I thought. There are probably much better ways of organizing it than this. Like by fandom. Or genre. Or pairing. Or rating even. But, nope, you get it chronologically. Cos (did I mention there's a lot?) that was easiest. By far.

I've done some pretty terrifying, amazing, life-changing, world-turning-upsidedowning things this year. Two things have kept me sane through it. My friends (yes, I mean you) and writing. Cataloguing all the things my friends have done for me would take more space than LJ allows. So I catalogued my writing.

March Pre-LJ. I started writing after more than ten years in which I'd scribbled the odd angsty poem, but nothing more. I wrote a couple of pieces of Highway fanfic, Perfect Score (Jack/Pilot) and After Goodbye (Pilot/Johnny). These were disseminated to my Highway fan friends via email. I was attacked in Paris by a bunny about a boy who tells his girlfriend he needs to be having sex with men. Parts of that story made their way to the admissions office of SF State's Creative Writing programme last month, various people, including [livejournal.com profile] dontkickmycane, [livejournal.com profile] karaokegal and [livejournal.com profile] tigertrapped have given me invaluable advice about it, but I'm still working on it.

April
I continued writing the piece of original fiction that attacked me in Paris and wouldn't let go. And the wonderful [livejournal.com profile] victorian_tweed who had been reading my Highway fanfic (and who had introduced me to the word 'slash'… did she imagine what she was going to unleash?), told me about livejournal.com. I also discovered the word 'drabble'. And started writing them.

I was obsessed with Wentworth Miller and Prison Break at the time. And just for a change… hands.

More 'hand drabbles'. This time, CSI femslash, and a second look at Wentworth's hands.

I discovered a Deadwood OTP, Alma/Trixie and liking the femslash bath theme, wrote Joni/Kerry as well.

I also wrote my first Jack/Vaughn drabble in April.

May

May brought the discovery of the [livejournal.com profile] mmom community and the challenge to write a Merry Month of Masturbation story for every day of May. I decided to increase the challenge by writing a different pairing every day. (sometimes I cheated a bit, counting Catherine/Sara and Sara/Catherine as two pairings). I nearly made it, but at the end of the month I had a call from my mother saying that my grandmother was dying, and wank!fics lost their priority status. I did succeed in writing 28 drabbles, ficlets and fics though.

I wrote more Jack/Pilot Coming Home and A Night in the Desert. Plus two more as part of MMOM.

I branched out into BDSM with You Need to Stay Away from Sydney, Jack/Vaughn Alias slash.

I started taking writing challenge prompts and wrote Innuendo.

May was also the month I discovered the world of House MD slash. My House/Wilson obsession was born. My first story was a sequel to [livejournal.com profile] dontkickmycane's of Small Spaces and Big Sticks. I didn't even give it a title. It was the first of many House/Wilson 'first time' stories to come.

In Chapter three of the tale, House and Wilson joined the 'Mile High Club'.

In Chapter four, out came the belt and handcuffs.

I wrote Saved about a mother and daughter on a road trip, and I tried my hand at Iambic Pentameter. Because who doesn't need to do that once in their lives?

May ended with a rushed journey to California in the (thwarted) hope of seeing my grandmother again before she died.

June
June started with a poem and a dialogue only piece, Bus Stop which remains one of my favourite things I've ever written. It is based on an overheard snippet of conversation, and was written in a karaoke bar in San Francisco. (thank you [livejournal.com profile] karaokegal)

I wrote my first song!fic Landscape of Longing in which Wilson listens to Morrissey and gets drunk.

Sleepwalking found House and Wilson thinking of each other even in their sleep.

Another 'hand drabble', a sort of ode to my own hands.

Another writing prompt… Waiting.

I wrote my first crossover fic, Of Fathers and Slayers in which I crossed Garden State with Buffy the Vampire Slayer. I have to wonder if I am the only person who's tried that.

Every Now and Then was a Thelma and Louise back-story story. My love letter to a film that made a huge impact on me.

Having just written two 'genfics' I wrote a sexy m/m slash double drabble that I never got around to giving a title to.

A second song!fic, a Cameron POV look at House/Wilson, Grey Matter was a bunny body slam that happened in the car on the way to work. Fortunately it was a quiet night shift so I could write it before it ate me alive.

Back in the days before canon made me want to scream, I was writing canon based Housefic like Denial, getting inside House's head in 2.22 Forever.

More Alias, Jack/Vaughn BDSM: The Cell.

Last but not least, I wrote a story for my mother for her birthday, The Frog Hospital.

July

Because I never seem to tire of House and Wilson's first time, July started off with The Fourth Floor… the obligatory 'office sex' episode.

July was hot in Brighton, and I wrote Avalanche in an effort to cool down. Snowboarding, ice, and, well, the title gives the game away.

I didn't post nearly as much in July as June, largely due to this monster. My House/West Wing crossover, Conspiracies, ate my life for WEEKS.

It seems concentrating like that on Plot Without Porn leads to smut drabbles, Alabaster Column is one of my more lyrical offerings. A triple drabble about a couple for whom handcuffs are superfluous.

July brought the good crack in the form of a House/The Faculty crossover, in which I got to take Greg and James back to high school and menace them with aliens.

[livejournal.com profile] dontkickmycane particularly liked the line The answer to everything is these cookies. Bring the jar. and wanted me to use it in a not crack!fic House/Wilson story. So I did.

And because what would summer be without some Jack/Norrington slash, I ended the month with this. Set in the middle of Curse of the Black Pearl.

August

August actually started off fairly well. Not that you'd know from the tone of the first fic I posted, Shed, a Prison Break rape!fic. Seriously pushes the boundaries of even those who like non-con, it's sinister and violent.

Keeping in the violence theme, August also brought my most popular (if comments are anything to go by) House/Wilson story to date. Reservoir Docs, gun!kink ahoy!

Perhaps as an antidote to all the violence, next came fluffy, schmoopy Wilson/Chase which I wrote for [livejournal.com profile] kohl_rimmed_eye, because the girl can write any pairing, and I felt compelled to at least try. Plus, she asked.

Continuing the theme of trying new things, I managed a Jeeves/Wooster drabble with the help of [livejournal.com profile] skyblue_reverie.

Most of August was spent writing things that ended up getting posted in later months. Most notably the huge, collaborative House/Wilson fic with [livejournal.com profile] karaokegal (see September)

September

The [livejournal.com profile] kohl_rimmed_eye imposed Wilson/Chase bunny wasn't allowed to die, oh no, it got turned into This is not my Beautiful Wife, my first ever 'snap-shot' fic, and a journey in stalking and obsession.

Then came (finally) Forgiveness the inside look at half of season two, House/Wilson, stalker!Chase, story that [livejournal.com profile] karaokegal talked me into writing with her, kind of against both our better judgement, but it was incredibly rewarding and actually a lot of fun. And it's a great story, if I'm allowed to say that myself.

My second go at 'snap-shot' fiction was House/Wilson and had word association prompts. Which was kind of fun in itself.

Everyone begged for a sequel to Reservoir Docs, so I wrote Superstar in which Wilson wears leather.

Then another drabble, Jealousy, Wilson/Chase again.

My first serious foray into my Firefly OTP, Kaylee/Inara, was a series of 'firsts' drabbles, A First Time for Everything.

My other Firefly OTP is both het and canon. Will wonders never cease. I don't do graphic het, so this Zoe/Wash fic is really all about Mal. There's Something About Him.

October

Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] femslash100's drabbletag, October was a lot about the femslash drabbles. Oh, and the crack.

Cameron/Shane a House/L Word crossover

More Kaylee/Inara

Faith/Willow

Sara/Shane more crossover fun with CSI/L Word.

And the crack. Valley-girl crack. Valley!Lisa/Valley!Allison, take one

There was begging, and friending. And another bunny. More valley-girl crack

October was also [livejournal.com profile] karaokegal's birthday. She asked for Mac/Danny jealous!sex I also wrote RPS pundit!slash (it's f'locked)

And then, to cap off the month… it was HALLOWEEN. Which brought the crack-tastic and amazing "come as you're not" fiction party. For which I 'dressed' as Chase/Foreman

November

Opened with yet another smutty drabble House/Wilson

Next I succumbed to the iPod shuffle meme. 10 House/Wilson drabbles

original fiction based on ten words.

Most of November was spent on my Yuletide story, my HW_fest entry and my application for gradschool. Not a lot got posted.

December

[livejournal.com profile] hw_fest I took the supremely delicious prompt: What if House and Wilson were potential watchers in the Buffyverse? How could I resist? Someone to Watch Over Me.

Then I wrote more Jack/Vaughn Res Judicata for [livejournal.com profile] karaokegal

Slut!Wilson for [livejournal.com profile] fallen_arazil

A proper, plot and everything Kaylee/Inara Melon and Roses for [livejournal.com profile] kohl_rimmed_eye

And two yuletide fics A Squire's Tale, Wat/Chaucer slash from A Knight's Tale and Into the Stars, a Brokeback Mountain story.

I hope that 2007 brings more happiness, more joy, more love, and more of whatever it is that makes you want to wake up every morning, to all the wonderful people in my life.

Wow, you got a LOT done. All this and to be accepted for publication, too! I'm so glad you returned to writing. It's clearly your calling. Here's to much more in 2007, including I hope some further collaboration between us, be it Max/Julian or beta-heaven. I've said it before and I'll say it again - you're a star!

(ps many thanks for the loan of Want to Play, which arrived this morning)

The Royal Mail never ceases to amaze me. I'm glad it got there.

I can't imagine my life without writing now. Sometimes calling and obsession seem to have a fine line between them. But, either way I'm happy. And assuredly I hope there will be more of all of it.

I am beaming like a proud mum over the thought that I introduced you to the word "slash" :-D

Here's to a fabulous 2007, darling River. May all your hopes and dreams and wishes come true.

In a very real way everything on that list can be traced back to the conversations we had on Tal's sofa of lethargy. I honestly don't think I would have started any of this without you. So please do beam. Raise a glass to yourself, and be proud.

Thank you.

Working with you on "Forgiveness" and the beta we've done for each other on various projects has/have (?) been some of the most fun (even when it didn't exactly feel like fun) that I had this year. Big giant squooshy hugs. I especially love the giftfics you gave me, even when you felt it was a struggle.

I would probably not still be doing this with such enthusiasm without your help. I am glad your giftfics make you happy. Most of them make me happy too :D

*hugs back*

Geez, girl, you're prolific! And it's all so good too, which is really incredible. I agree with tigertrapped - writing is your calling, and I can't wait till you're back here and we can write together and just hang out.

Happy new year, hon! *hugs*
