Wincon take two: mostly awake

There has been some sleep, and I have a day off tomorrow, so I am feeling a little more capable of getting a detail or two about Wincon down onto paper. And by paper I mean the whitespace of this posting box. this year's con was in Dallas, where the wind is warm and the airport is huge. The fangirls were plentiful and the prom ran late. I had a wonderful time.

This was the first year in five years that I left on Sunday rather than Monday, and I'd been fretting that it would ruin everything, but while I would have preferred to leave Monday, I made the most of the time I got to have, and I did not make my brand-new bosses think I'm unreliable, so that's good.

I got in mid-afternoon on Thursday, and got my room key and dumped my suitcase before going in search of people to hug. I found [livejournal.com profile] wendy and [livejournal.com profile] celtic_cookie and got my registration from the former, and made the latter come with me to find food. The hotel was in a great location in the middle of downtown, which meant there was food and drink easily accessible all weekend. It was awesome.

My roommates got there later in the day, and there was lots of hanging out with fangirls in the lounge room in the mean time. Twitter was telling me I had to meet up with @_concinnity, and I was like, BUT WHO IS SHE WHERE IS SHE. Finally I found her and got to hang out with her and have some great conversations over the weekend, and I could see why half my feed was so insistant we hook up (not that way, not that I wouldn't ;)

There were some great panels, lots of great conversations in the lounge, good meals, lots of bacon, and then prom. I FUCKING LOVE WINPROM. Every year is better than the year before. [livejournal.com profile] cathybites is a phenomenal DJ, and I thoroughly enjoyed watching her with an iPad rather than a pair of headphones pressed to her ear. We live in the future.

The lights were up for lots of the night which meant we could see everyone's outfits, and also could see the hot women making out with each other. I approved of this wholeheartedly. Also, making out is FUN, and I like it a lot. Because the hotel has a nightclub in the building, we were allowed to prom until 1am instead of the usual midnight, which was also awesome. I drank rather more than I needed to, so if I offended anyone with my open appreciation of your breasts, I would like to apologise.

Unfortunately, I got hit with the shakes not all that long after the dancing ended, because I hadn't had enough to eat, and I had to be escorted to my room to salvage the salami from the leftover half of my subway sandwich that was languishing in the fridge. Then I ended up staying awake until after 4am, which made Monday and Tuesday at work kind of a torture of sleep deprivation, but it was worth it. Breakfast and checkout came too early in the morning, though checkout wasn't until noon, which was much more awesome than ten.

I got to spend some time with my lovely [livejournal.com profile] dauntdraws who gave me a teen wolf fic prompt and drew me gorgeous killjoys-era Gerard as a little thank you/goodbye picture. I am apparently HORRIBLE at photographing art, but you can get the idea:

I also got cuddles with many of my beloved fangirls, and I won Chris Colfer's Land of Stories in the raffle, and I may have been slightly embarrassing in my enthusiasm when I collected it, but I was REALLY HAPPY, and also a little drunk. And [livejournal.com profile] tjournal did wait in line for 12 hours for his autograph, so I wanted her to know how glad I was to have it :D

I wish there could be a fangirl con every three months throughout the year. I do always say I want it all the time, but I'd get exhausted. Every three months would be AWESOME tho. I can't wait for Muskrat Jamboree in the spring.

I had a great time dressing as Party Poison for Prom, and I am glad I grew my hair out for it, but I am even more glad that I get to get it all cut off tomorrow :D It's still pink from the red hairspray, but I'm hoping that most of that will be gone soon.

It turns out that this was still a totally uninspired recap of the weekend, but I cannot brain right now. Work is kicking my ass, between the early starts and the fact that I don't do very well with not knowing how to do things. But I'll get there, and that's the important part.

Now. When do I get my fangirl transporter device?
