This has been a busy year for writing, between school and fandom, and I can't actually believe it's almost over. I wanted to have a quick reference for me to be able to see what I wrote in 2008 since the excel spreadsheet only lasted until April but I love seeing other people's posts like this, so figured I'd post it in case I'm not alone. It took 15 days to compile (not full days. obviously), but here it finally is *g*
January started with Kinesis, which I wrote for DJ100 at
sammessiah. I had absolutely NO idea at the time that it was going to spawn Powerverse.
Not the Third Date was next, a little piece of Live Free or Die Hard pre John/Matt, inspired by
poisontaster's amazing fics as much as the movie.
Next was Jade, next in line in Powerverse. This is where I started thinking this was going to maybe be more than one or two chapters.
and I was right. Second Hand came three days later, proving that I am not very good at sitting on things until they are finished, and that my tendency is to post as soon as I'm happy with a single chapter.
three days after that, I was posting 5 times Dean got Fucked with his Boots On.
I started out February with Magnify, the next in Powerverse, and some Ruby/Bela femslash, a coda to 3:10.
Legend came on the ides of February (aka Valentines Day), and then there was a Dark Angel ficlet and Makeup, a little J2 drabble.
March brought Battleground, the final chapter of Powerverse, and then He's not Heavy, the verse's epilogue. I think these two are in the running for writing I'm proudest of this year. Battleground was my first attempt at writing action like that, and I felt like it came out better than I'd ever anticipated. and with He's not Heavy, I had something else ENTIRELY planned for the epilogue, and Dean was having none of it, and I let him have his way, and it reinforced my trust in letting the characters speak in a way nothing else had before.
I finished out March with Bleachers, which was supposed to be a one-off fic for
rejeneration. Again, I had NO IDEA that it would spawn the Stanford Verse
April started slowly for fic, and the first thing I posted was Chocolate Shakes and Pecan Pie. Next came Baby You can Drive my Car, and Does Whatever a Spider Can
May brought Comment porn and a Birthday fic for Sam Winchester on the 2nd, and then Dear Diary.
Then 3:15 aired and required a coda.
As the month wore on, came more Stanford 'Verse: Nightly Visitor, Weekly Phone Call, and Answer, or the Phone Sex fics. In there, too, was Right Floor, a Jensen/Anderson Cooper fic for
snarkyrainbow and
erin2326.
In June I went to England, and did some writing on the trains there. 100 more Miles and Going Home Again were added to Stanford 'Verse, and then I got caught up in deciding to move, and didn't do much other writing at all, except Candy, a little J2 fic about glow-in-the-dark M&Ms.
Nor did I do much beyond panic, plan for my trip to the Midwest, and pack in the beginning of July. I did manage Three Days, which finished off Stanford 'Verse by bringing the timeline up to Canon.
It did leave room for backing and filling though, and after settling in to the new place I wrote a sequel to Dear Diary, Tuesday Nights.
July was also spent working on A Key to Every Door with
dreamlittleyo, our cowritten fic that we finally finished and posted in August. This fic was a TREMENDOUS amount of fun to write. We played it like a game of tennis, shooting 400 or so words back and forth until we had almost 14000 of them.
My writing took a hit in August with the loss of my computer. To get back in the swing of things, I asked my flist for prompts. The Supernatural ones out of the way, I moved on to the Donna from Dr Who prompt. Then it was all a flurry of getting ready for school to start.
September started with Me and my Shadow, a DA/SPN crossover, Alec/Sam.
The Light, The Heat added another phone sex chapter to Stanford verse.
Then came an episode coda to 4.01, Too Much that Time Cannot Erase, which I was, and am, totally amazed fit into canon not just when I wrote it after the episode, but also all these many weeks later.
October brought, finally, the posting for
spn_remix, the first of which I wrote way back in the beginning of September, and the second of which actually was October writing, as it was a pinch hit. A Hand Reach out to You (the Ever Coming Storm remix) was my pinch hit, written for
dreamlittleyo's To Blow Against the wind, while my original assignment was Yield to the Tongue of the Orator (The Whisper Dream remix) written for
sirryluv's Early Rainy Day. I thoroughly enjoyed both of them, which was lovely after my initial nervousness about writing a remix.
Much of my October writing was of the epic I shall discuss in November, but I did finally FINALLY finish Staring at the Sun, the porny sequel to A Key to Every Door, which I originally started back in August, just before my computer was stolen. It was distressing that it took me that long, but I attributed it to PTSD, and tried not to fret about it too much. I also wrote Punch Drunk, more J2.
In November, I decided to do mini-nano. The goal I set myself was 300 words of fiction a day. I managed it every day except Election Day, when I gave myself a bye. Some of what I wrote was original fiction, and some was work on longer pieces, but I did several flash SPN pieces too.
Carwash, a missing scene from 4.07
Message in a Bottle, a letter from Jess to Dean
What I missed the most was You, the night John and Mary have their first date
Won't Last Forever (It's Kind of Sad) five times Sam sees the ocean
No Place like Home Dean draws a picture
Getting By Dean does the laundry
Like the Tides of my Life Sam catches Dean leaving his mark
Can't let it go, Can't get through Bobby catches Dean, too
Swansong Dean's marks change
Like Pearl Onions Before Swine Sam remembers Thanksgiving
Closer than Air to Skin Dean and Sam are closer than air to skin
Black Friday Crack, and sex, and knitting
Nothing Right in this World Sam isn't the only one missing Dean while he's in Hell
California Dreaming Dean works on a house
A lot of the month I spent writing Verses Like Yours and Mine, a 15,000 word AU in which Mary lives and Sam and Dean don't know about hunting, but fall in love anyway.
After writing every day in November, I took a bit more of a break in December. I posted, I told you a thousand times, A Slipper Worn to Threads, and Glittering Bright in the Palm of my Hand, fics for
balefully,
rejeneration, and
pixel_0 respectively. Then came In the Pink and Who Needs Mistletoe?, which were originally comment fics for
tvm's comment fic post.
Now that I'm with my parents or brother for the rest of the year, I am very unlikely to manage any more fics until 2009. This year I posted a total of 52 Supernatural fics, 5 Jared/Jensen fics, 2 Dark Angel fics, 1 Jensen/Anderson, 1 Dr Who, and 1 Die Hard. Never let it be said I'm not essentially a monogamist ;) Two little one night stands away from Jensen, and there wasn't even any sex.
In addition to the fan fiction, I had two pieces of lesbian erotica published, made some headway on the longer original stories I'm writing, and wrote several non-fiction pieces for classes. I only hope I have as much fun next year as I did this.
