* I've got the Temptation series by Ella Frank in my HD and have heard lots of good things about it. As for Finley, my GR peeps have given it barely 3 stars citing the same complaints as you.
* Timing sounds kinda like it'd be my cuppa (woot for the subtle rec).
* I'm still on the fence about Jordan L. Hawk (though I've heard plenty of solid praise about her books and she often comes across as a decent person on Twitter). Gonna add this book as a potential/maybe.
* Sierra Riley is one of those authors whose popularity remain a mystery to me. ESPECIALLY because her books are such a mess to read!
* Andrew Grey's books subscribe to the old skool style and then some! This is something that's incredibly noticeable when you read a few of his books in a row (like you did). As I've grown older, I've got less patience for misogyny than before so I tend to steer clear of his books. :|
* Huh, I had expected Winter Oranges to be kinda spooky horror too. Maybe it had to do with blurb and/or the marketing for it? I'm glad to hear that is not the case so I'll add it to my TBR. :)
* FTR, I'm fully aware that I'm in the ridic small group of people who didn't like Meridian. IIRC, I gave it 2.5/5. Mind you, not only did I get it for free (via a giveaway), but I was also really looking forward to reading it (Kirby's Scarlet and the White Wolf series is one my faves for reasons I can't quite explain). I really wished I'd liked it more. :(
*Rhys Ford. *sighs* OK, so I read her book Fish Stick Fridays as part of a reading challenge...I gotta say that the ONLY thing I liked was the cover. SRSLY. It was the one book of hers I've read.
Ended up leaving such a bad impression on me that, regardless of how tempting your reviews make it seem like, I doubt I'll ever try anything written by her ever. :(
* The only K.A. Mitchell books I've read were Chasing Smoke (about 6 or so years ago) and the first two books in the Bad in Baltimore series. I remember them being v. hot and enjoyable--though I'm less sure of how well they'd hold up on a re-read.
* Anne Tenino's books are super fun. I deffo have to get around to reading Wedding Favors sometime this year. ^_^
* The Subs Club #1 was a book I DNF'd earlier this year. Mind you, I love J.A. Rock's novels. Looking back, I think that my reaction was so negative because book fandom!nemesis praised this book up and down Main Street (re book fandom!nemesis: we are civil towards one another and generally don't cross paths too often. It so happens that our tastes are completely opposite when it comes to tropes and kinks. This is a fact that we're both aware of. )
Anyhoo, hearing book fandom!nemesis talk up this novel really put me off from even before I started reading it. Since I've realized this and also because I really want to read the series, I'm going to give The Subs Club a second chance (won't probably get to it til Sept-Oct).
I've got opinions (who knew?) ;P
